Edmonton Oilers vs St. Louis Blues Analysis
The St. Louis Blues head up to Canada on Friday night looking to put a consistent run together after winning just seven of their previous 16 games prior to their doubleheader victory over the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday.
The Edmonton Oilers meanwhile are looking for something similar regarding consistency after going 3-3 over their previous six starts, however each of those wins for the Oilers came at home.
Pacific Blues
While the St. Louis Blues look to keep the pressure up on the two Central Division leaders in Minnesota and Colorado respectively, they could do worse then heading over to their old stomping ground of the Pacific Division tonight where they’ve been red-hot over recent matchups.
The Blues own a pretty stellar 13-3-2 record over teams from the Pacific Division this season and an even more impressive 7-1 record over their last eight starts against them as well.
Oilers Looking To Make History
With Wednesday’s 4-3 shootout victory over the LA Kings in the bag, the Oilers have now moved to eight-straight victories now at home.
Another victory for the Oilers tonight would tie a franchise record for Edmonton and with the form both league points leader Connor McDavid and scoring leader Leon Draisaitl are in right now, it would take a brave person to bet against them.
Edmonton Oilers vs St. Louis Blues Prediction
While the Oilers have come off lopsided losses to both the Dallas Stars and Calgary Flames over recent games, at home they have been incredibly strong, especially on offense.
Over their last six home games combined the Oilers have averaged a colossal 5.67 goals per game and rank third in the league on total power play goals scored this year also.
While the St. Louis Blues have been respectfully decent on defense this season, giving up just 2.85 goals per game on average and ranking top-ten on opponent shots to goal percentage also, there have been some worrying signs for the Blues ahead of this contest, namely the fact they’re giving up the third-most opponent scoring chances out of any team in the league, ahead of only Montreal and Detroit.
That should be kryptonite tonight against a team in Edmonton who are averaging the sixth-most expected goals out of any team in the league right now, so we like the home team in this one to win outright and are taking the Edmonton Oilers on the moneyline on Friday to get the victory over the St. Louis Blues.
