Edmonton Oilers vs Vegas Golden Knights Betting Analysis
The Vegas Golden Knights look to extend a 2-1 series lead in Edmonton on Wednesday night against the Oilers after beating them 5-1 on Monday. The Oilers finished the regular season 23-12-6 at home and are now 2-2 in the post-season.
The Golden Knights were 26-7-8 on the road in the regular season and are a perfect 3-0 away from home in the playoffs. Puck drop at 10:00 PM EST/7:00 PST from Rogers Place in Edmonton.
Oilers Offense Needs To Bounce Back
The Edmonton Oilers fell behind 2-1 in the series after losing 5-1 on Monday despite entering the game as a -180 money line favorite.
This is only the second time in nine post-season games that Edmonton failed to score more than three goals and only the first time with one goal or less. This was also the first playoff game where Leon Draisaitl failed to record a point and only the second time for Connor McDavid.
McDavid finished the regular season first in points, goals and assists and has 15 points so far in the post-season.
Draisaitl finished the regular season second in points, fourth in goals and third in assists while leading the NHL in post-season scoring with 17 points. Defense and goaltending is where the Oilers have struggled at points as they ranked 17th in goals against and 19th in shots allowed per game.
Stuart Skinner finished the regular season with a 29-14-5 record, 2 83 GAA and .913 save percentage. Skinner had some issues in Game 3, allowing four goals on 23 shots fired.
He was replaced midway through the second period by Jack Campbell who allowed only one goal on 10 shots faced.
Knights Look Golden In Game 3 Victory
The Vegas Golden Knights crushed the Oilers on Monday as +160 underdogs on the money line. Goaltender Laurent Brossoit left the game due to injury after allowing one goal on four shots faced.
Adin Hill replaced him in net and stopped all 24 of the shots he faced. Vegas coach Bruce Cassidy didn’t have an update on Brossoit after the game after he exited with a lower body injury.
His status remains unclear but he did miss the first four months of the regular season after offseason hip surgery.
The Knights defense was above average, ranking 11th in goals against per game and 13th in shots allowed.
They were average on offense as they ranked 16th in goals per game and 15th in shots per game. Jack Eichel led the team with 66 points during the regular season while Mark Stone leads the team with 11 post-season points.
Edmonton Oilers vs Vegas Golden Knights Expert Prediction
The Edmonton Oilers are favored with a -190 money line while the -1.5 puck line sits at +125. Meanwhile the Vegas Golden Knights are +160 underdogs on the money line and sit at -145 on +1.5 puck line.
After losing Game 3 at home, the Oilers will be laser focused to right the ship in Game 4. McDavid and Draisaitl in particular will be locked in and will both be solid bets to eclipse their point total props.
Edmonton has scored 4+ goals in 7 of 9 playoff games and I’m fully expecting their best effort at home tonight.
You could roll with the Oilers on the puck line, but I prefer to not worry about what the Vegas offensive attack does and roll with the Oilers team total over 3.5.
