Minnesota Wild vs Pittsburgh Penguins Analysis

Pittsburgh heads into the Xcel Energy Center in Minneapolis on Thursday night looking to break out of what has been a recent mini-slump for them, dropping three of their last four games overall.

That will be easier said than done, however, as they face a Minnesota Wild team tonight in absolutely sensational form, winning seven-straight games and looking to tie their season record with win No. 8 tonight.

Penguins Begins Two-Game Road Trip Out West

While Pittsburgh has dropped each of their last two games on the road, that hasn’t been the case all season as the Penguins have been strong away from home this year.

Pittsburgh is 16-7 over their last 23 road games in all and won four of their five contests away from home last month also to keep pressure at the top of the Metropolitan Division.

Wild Looking to Roll into the Playoffs

Getting hot at the right time is key for a successful playoff run and the Minnesota Wild will hope they’ve struck at just the right time with only a couple of weeks of regular season action remaining.

The Wild have now moved to +600 to win the Western Conference based on their current winning run as the books have taken firm notice of what is now the league’s longest current win streak.

Minnesota Wild vs Pittsburgh Penguins Prediction

Two good goalies are expected in net tonight for the Penguins and Wild respectively with Tristan Jarry and Cam Talbot both penciled in between the pipes later tonight, and we’re going to look towards the under in this one for a number of reasons.

First, not only are both teams expecting good goalies in nets tonight, but both teams have been very solid defensively all season.

Pittsburgh has given up just 2.59 goals per game to opponents this year, tied for third-lowest in the league, while Minnesota ranks No. 1 on total number of opponent scoring chances allowed; No. 1 on opponent high danger scoring chances allowed; and No. 3 on overall expected goals against this season also.

With both teams looking to mount a win here, this should be a close, competitive game throughout and we like the under 6.5 goals between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Minnesota Wild on Thursday night.
