New York Rangers vs New York Islanders Betting Analysis
The two New York teams clash for the second time this season on Tuesday night as the New York Rangers will look to even the series later tonight after the Islanders took first blood late last month via a 3-0 blowout.
Kyle Palmieri netted twice in that game for the Islanders with two assists from Adam Pelech also, as a two-goal blitz in the 3rd period finally sealed the win for the Islanders in that one.
However, the Rangers can take heart from that performance as they put up 41 total shots in that game, 12 more than the Islanders managed, but were unable to convert despite the constant pressure.
The Islanders have owned recent meetings against the Rangers in the Big Apple, winning 17 of the last 22 head-to-heads taking place here.
Surface Numbers Can’t Hide Islanders’ Lack Of Strength On Defense
The Islanders rank 5th in the league overall this year in terms of opponent scoring and top five on opponent conversion percentage as well.
However, as long as the Islanders continue to allow the number of chances that they’ve given up so far this season, those numbers simply cannot last as the Islanders rank 27th in the league this season on overall defensive xGA and 28th on opponent high-danger scoring opportunities also.
Rangers Failing To Convert
Just like their last game against the Islanders at the end of October, the Rangers have struggled to convert their on-ice dominance this season into goals, and it’s shown in their recent results as the Rangers have won just three of their last nine games overall heading into Tuesday’s matchup.
Despite ranking 7th in the league on overall xG this season along with having the 5th highest number of high-danger scoring opportunities as well, the Rangers have continued to misfire all year, hitting at a paltry 8.00% on conversion percentage this season, the second-lowest mark in the entire NHL.

We’re gonna side with the Over 6 goals in this one on Tuesday between the Islanders and the Rangers over in New York.
We have a dynamic tonight where one team is creating plenty of chances but failing to score, while the other team is allowing plenty of chances but finding ways to limit scoring, so we’re taking a shot that either of those dams breaks tonight and leads to an Over.
While trend wise, the Under has cashed at a considerably high-rate in this series, we’re arguably seeing a half-goal discrepancy on this line from where the data suggests it should be, and we’re happy to take a shot with the Over 6 goals tonight in New York between the Islanders and the Rangers.
