Pittsburgh Penguins vs Ottawa Senators Betting Analysis

The Ottawa Senators are currently in the midst of their second-longest losing streak of the season so far and will look to right the ship against the struggling Pittsburgh Penguins in PPG Paints Arena on Monday night.

The Penguins haven’t been a whole lot better, dropping four of their last six games overall, and got blasted out by the New York Rangers in a 6-0 road loss on Saturday also.

The two teams split a pair of meetings back in January, but the Senators have had a rough time of it in Pittsburgh across recent seasons, winning just 4 of their last 23 meetings in the Steel City.

Momentum Building In Ottawa

Despite five straight losses across recent games, it hasn’t been all doom and gloom for the Ottawa Senators as they’ve actually played well in a number of those games as they look to get back into the playoff hunt with only a few weeks remaining of the regular season.

Ottawa gave Edmonton an early game of it last week before coming apart late and then followed that up with two super-close losses against the Colorado Avalanche and Toronto Maple Leafs respectively, a game against the Leafs which they arguably should have won outright in as well.

Things Turn Sour For Pittsburgh

With the Pittsburgh Penguins seemingly in cruise control across late February and early March winning seven of nine games and controlling their own playoff destiny to all intents and purposes, things looked in good shape for Pittsburgh heading into the final month of the season.

However, three heavy defeats against the Montreal Canadiens and New York Rangers respectively have turned things sour quickly in Pittsburgh and the Penguins look like a rattled team heading into Monday night’s matchup against Ottawa.

This is a circle the wagons type game for Pittsburgh on Monday as their next two games sees them go on the road against two excellent teams in the Colorado Avalanche and Dallas Stars respectively, so a positive result in Monday’s matchup is vital as they look to build some momentum ahead of those crunch games.

The good thing for Pittsburgh however is that once they do click, they’ve been incredibly dangerous this season, averaging the league’s third-highest offensive xG this year, and one that could do some serious damage against an Ottawa team that ranks 30th in the league in opponent high-danger conversion percentage this season.

Take the Pittsburgh Penguins to bounce back with a win at home on Monday night against the Ottawa Senators.
