Toronto Maple Leafs vs Nashville Predators Betting Analysis

The Nashville Predators travel over to the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto on Wednesday enjoying something of a mini-renaissance over recent games, winning four on the bounce and scoring at least five goals in two of those matchups also.

They face a Maple Leafs team in this one who have looked equally as dominant over their last two starts, dispatching the Detroit Red Wings and Philadelphia Flyers by 3 and 4 goal margins respectively, and who will no doubt be looking to improve upon an already impressive 14-3-4 home record this season.

This will be the two teams’ first meeting this season of what will be a two-game series after splitting last season’s two-game series 1-1, with respective road victories for either team.

Saros Moving Up In The Rankings

It’s fair to say Nashville Predators goalie Juuse Saros is enjoying his best patch of the season so far, especially over his last few games where he made 38 saves and claimed his first shutout loss of the season on Monday against the Ottawa Senators.

Those performances have moved Saros up the rankings table as a result, sitting in 4th position in the league right now in terms of overall GSAA average right behind Boston’s Linus Ullmark, Winnipeg’s Connor Hellebuyck, and the New York Islander’s Ilya Sorokin.

Toronto Looks To Build On Solid Defense

Far from the all-out attack team we saw last season, with Toronto averaging the league’s 3rd highest shot conversion percentage and with only the Florida Panthers having a higher overall offensive xG than the Leafs also, it’s been a much more measured season this year for Toronto with a much greater emphasis on defense as a result.

The Maple Leafs own the 3rd best defensive record in the league this year allowing just 2.61 GAPG on average, along with ranking top five in defensive xGA this season also.

Toronto Maple Leafs vs Nashville Predators Prediction

We believe Nashville’s win streak comes to an end here on Wednesday as despite some missteps by Toronto over the last few weeks, by and large we’ve been impressed with how this team have operated over the season, especially defensively.

Apart from their recent purple patch, Nashville have struggled to score this year, averaging just 2.79 GPG on average along with a sub-10% shot conversion percentage also.

Those are numbers that this Toronto Maple Leafs team should be able to hold in check here on Wednesday and we like them to get the win on home ice against the Nashville Predators in regulation.
