Winnipeg Jets vs St. Louis Blues Betting Analysis

Two teams coming in off protracted losing streaks clash on Monday night over at the Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg as the Jets host their Central Division rivals the St. Louis Blues with both teams looking to get back in the win column before the All-Star Break.

The Jets have largely been solid at home this season, holding a 17-8-0 record overall up in Manitoba, but did look vulnerable defensively in back-to-back losses here over the last few days against the Philadelphia Flyers and Buffalo Sabres respectively.

Speaking of teams looking vulnerable defensively, the St. Louis Blues have given up an average of 4.75 goals per game over their previous four starts and sit with the league’s 4th highest opponent shot conversion percentage this season also.

This will be the third of four meetings between the two teams this season with Winnipeg winning both of the previous two meetings by pretty comprehensive margins, 4-0 and 5-2 respectively, and that’s been a general theme since last season in this series, with Winnipeg winning all of their last five meetings against St. Louis.

Blues Dealing With A Ton Of Absences

It’s been a tough stretch of late for the St. Louis Blues, not only in dealing with a protracted losing streak, but also an injury list that continues to grow as well.

Center Robert Thomas was the latest addition to the Blues injury list after taking a hit in the game against the Arizona Coyotes last week and he’s listed as day-to-day for tonight’s matchup.

He’s definitely not alone though with Pavel Buchnevich, Ryan O’Reilly, Scott Perunovich, and Marco Scandella all sidelined for Monday’s game as well.

Hellebuyck Numbers Slipping

While he’s been an immense figure in nets all season for the Winnipeg Jets, there’s no question January hasn’t been as kind to Connor Hellebuyck as the previous couple of months were.

The Michigan native has seen his goals against per game tally rise by 0.62 from his November figures, and he’s just one loss away in January from equalling his entire losses over the months of November and December as well.

With that said, it’s obvious Connor Hellebuyck is still one of the best goalies in the entire league right now, boasting a red-hot 21.43 GSAA average this season, a number only eclipsed only by Boston’s Linus Ullmark, so his current form likely won’t last too long.

Winnipeg Jets vs St. Louis Blues Prediction

The Blues are dealing with a ton of injuries right now, and with their next game not being for almost two weeks, priority number one has to be to get through this game unscathed and get healthy again in order to make that second-half playoff push.

Winnipeg have been struggling of late themselves, but face a team in St. Louis that ranks 30th in the league on overall defensive xGA this season and that is short-handed on top, so they should be able to make that count tonight on home ice.

Take the Winnipeg Jets to get the win in regulation at home on Monday against the St. Louis Blues.

Prediction: Winnipeg Jets Moneyline in Regulation (-130)
