Southampton vs Wolves | March 15 | 11:00AM ET
Southampton +265 | Wolves +105 | Draw +245
With just one loss across their last three Premier League games in all, all while the teams below them continue to flounder, 17th-placed Wolves would go a long way to ensuring their top-flight status for next season should they beat one of those aforementioned teams below them this weekend.
Southampton sit bottom of the Premier League table overall and their fate is basically sealed at this point with popular British sports analytic company OPTA giving the Saints zero chance of staying up in a report published two weeks ago.
That certainly looks to be on point also, as despite putting in some spirited displays in recent matches, most notably against league-leaders Liverpool last time out, Southampton have nonetheless won just one game at home all season, and generated just four total points across all home games, an incredibly poor return considering three-quarters of the season is almost over.
Wolves have won all of their last six head-to-heads against Southampton in league action, including each of their last four down on the south coast as well where Wolves have found success, averaging 2.0 GPG across that run.
That goal tally hasn’t only been restricted to playing Southampton either, with Wolves’ road games this season witnessing the highest amount of first-half goals in the league on average, and given Southampton’s league-worst defense at home, we’ll go back to the early total goals market for this one.
Premier League Prediction: 1H Over 1 (-120)
Everton vs West Ham | March 15 | 11:00AM ET
Everton +110 | West Ham +275 | Draw +225
It’s fair to say that David Moyes’ return to the Everton dugout has been a massive success, not only putting considerable daylight between themselves and the relegation zone currently, moving from a two-point gap back at the start of the calendar year all the way up to a current 16-point gap heading into this weekend’s fixtures, but also the fact that Everton have joined an exclusive club in Europe alongside Liverpool, Barcelona, Roma, Augsburg, and PSG as the only teams to go unbeaten across each of their last eight league games.
Whether that will extend this weekend against Moyes’ previous club in West Ham is another matter however as, despite their impressive turnaround in the league, Everton have nonetheless won just two of their last six home games overall, and are now winless in three straight also after drawing against Manchester United a couple of weeks ago.
West Ham meanwhile secured a critical victory against London rivals Arsenal in their last road game, all but ending the Gunners’ title ambitions, yet it may be difficult to replicate that success in this one given the Hammers own the lowest expected shot differential in the league this season away from home.
With over a third of all West Ham’s road goals this season coming from set piece or penalty situations, they’ve actually created very little from open play in games, owning the fourth-lowest mark in the league overall, and that lack of creativity could cost them here against a team as defensively responsible as Everton is.
Take the Toffees to get the home win on Saturday.
Premier League Prediction: Everton ML (+110)
Fulham vs Tottenham | March 16 | 9:30AM ET
Fulham -105 | Tottenham +250 | Draw +290
Tottenham face a tricky second leg at home on Thursday night against AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League, a game that will determine whether or not Spurs potentially progress on to their first UEFA quarter-final in six years.
Many books therefore are expecting that distraction to cost Spurs in this one as they travel to a Fulham side that has been in some good form overall, winning five of their last seven matches outright, including that penalty shootout victory against Manchester United in the FA Cup ten days ago.
However, despite their solid form of late, Fulham’s home form this season hasn’t quite been up to par, with the Cottagers generating 22 of their 42 points away from home this season, as well as allowing over 55% of all of their goals at home this season also.
That patchy form for Fulham has arguably accelerated over recent months also, with the Cottagers winning just two of their last eight home games in all, so being priced up here at odds on favorites, even against this distracted Tottenham side, really doesn’t appeal all that much this weekend.
Tottenham for their part are still an incredibly dangerous team going forward, with only Liverpool scoring more counter-attacking goals on the season as a whole away from home than Tottenham have managed.
Given the line on Fulham has continued to creep up across the week, the value may now have swung back to a Tottenham side that for all their inconsistencies this season, have nonetheless covered this line in three of their last six road games.
Premier League Prediction: Tottenham +0.5 (-120)
