Arsenal vs Liverpool Analysis
Liverpool romped home to a comprehensive 4-0 victory in the reverse fixture between these two at Anfield back in November, but since then, Arsenal has made a ton of changes to their lineup and have played Liverpool much closer over their two most recent EFL Cup meetings in January, drawing 0-0 and losing 0-2 respectively over two legs.
Liverpool Looking to Close the Gap
From what looked like a slam dunk position in the middle of January for Manchester City, 11 points clear at the top with Liverpool only winning 13 of 21 games to start the season, it looked like the title was firmly heading back to the blue side of Manchester once again.
But since January 18th, Liverpool has been in absolutely sensational form winning seven-straight games while City has won just four-of-seven following Monday’s disappointing draw against Crystal Palace in London.
Another win here for Liverpool would see the gap close to just a single point with Liverpool owning a better overall goal difference than City also.
Arsenal Looking for a Firm Grip on Top Four
Liverpool isn’t the only team that has been red-hot since mid-January.
Arsenal has gone unbeaten themselves in the league over that same timeframe, the only team besides Chelsea and Liverpool to do so, and their young quartet of Martinelli, Saka, Smith Rowe and Nketiah (all 22 years of age or younger) has really been lighting it up for Arsenal in attack this season.
On top of that electric pace in attack for Arsenal, it’s been their defense which has been carrying most of the load, averaging the league’s second-fewest xGA on defense since mid-January and keeping four clean sheets over their last eight games across all competitions as well.
Arsenal vs Liverpool Prediction
This should be a really entertaining matchup between two of the most in-form teams in the Premier League right now, but we have to give the nod to Liverpool in this one.
Liverpool has not lost to Arsenal in any of their previous seven head-to-head’s, winning four of them outright, and in the form they are in right now, we expect Liverpool to just get over the line in this one as well.
Arsenal has scored at least two goals in all four of their previous Premier League matches so expect the Gunners to get on the scoresheet here and because of that, we’re taking a shot with the outright correct score prop on Liverpool to win by exactly 2-1 here on Wednesday at a mammoth +850 price over in the EPL on Wednesday.
