Arsenal vs Manchester United Analysis
Arsenal hosts Manchester United in the early kick-off this Saturday after coming off a fantastic 4-2 derby victory over Chelsea in midweek as they look to keep pace with London rivals Tottenham in the race for Champions League next season.
Manchester United, meanwhile, got demolished on Tuesday night by title contenders Liverpool and with an extra game played in the league over fellow European hopefuls Tottenham and Arsenal, their dreams of a top-four finish this season look to be fading fast.
Rangnick Not Mincing Words on United’s Performance
Ralf Rangnick, United’s interim coach, didn’t mince his words after Liverpool’s destruction of Manchester United in midweek in what is arguably the most historic rivalry in England.
Even worse is the fact that Liverpool already smashed United 5-0 back in October, creating a 9-0 aggregate scoreline this season over their old rivals, the biggest margin of victory between the two clubs ever. So Rangnick’s description of his side being “embarrassing.., disappointing.. and humiliating..” might not be that far from the truth as United have serious team chemistry issues right now.
Young Guns Rewarding Faith By Arteta
With Arsenal’s goalscoring contingent early in the season of Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang getting broken up in January with Aubameyang departing for Barcelona, it’s given the youth contingent at Arsenal their chance to shine and they rewarded that trust in abundance with a pitch perfect performance on Wednesday night against Chelsea.
A brace from Eddie Nketiah plus goals from Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka also put Chelsea to the sword in that game and Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was quick to point out after the game that Nketiah should have been a regular starter much sooner for the Gunners.
Arsenal vs Manchester United Prediction
Despite getting involved in a six-goal thriller in midweek against Chelsea, we’re expecting a much lower tempo to this game for Arsenal on Saturday.
The Gunners have been struggling to net goals at home of late and have scored just once in the first half of their last six Premier League games overall inside the Emirates.
Manchester United is also struggling in front of goals right now with Edinson Cavani still sidelined and no Ronaldo also, plus the fact United managed just 0.11 xG total in their game against Liverpool on Tuesday.
In fact no team in the Premier League has created less chances than Manchester United have in front of goal since March 1st, so the Red Devils are in severe danger of posting their third shutout in just four games against Arsenal on Saturday.
We’re leaning Arsenal on the side in this one but with a current line of 2.75 on the goal line, we’re taking a piece of the under on Saturday between Manchester United and Arsenal over in the English Premier League.
