Freiburg’s path to the top four requires RB Leipzig to come up short against Arminia Bielefeld, which looks like a longshot. But a far more pressing concern for the away side here is that sixth-place Union Berlin have a much more winnable game against Bochum with the opportunity to jump Freiburg.

Bayer Leverkusen is safely in third position in the table guaranteeing themselves Champions League football for next season, however they’ve lost each of the last two head-to-heads against Freiburg in league action.

Freiburg With Multiple Paths To Europe

While a win here on Saturday remains the most straightforward option for Freiburg in terms of qualifying for Europe for next season, they do have the added cushion of being in the DFB Pokal final this year with a win in that competition putting them into next season’s Europa League tournament automatically.

However, they face RB Leipzig in that final next week so it’s not a path they necessarily want to rely on heavily.

A lot of that success has been generated from influential Czech forward Patrik Schick who finished the season second behind Robert Lewandowski in the Bundesliga goal charts.

Freiburg has multiple routes to Europe other than the league here as we previously outlined, even as beaten finalists, so it isn’t the simple win-or-go-home mentality we’re used to seeing ahead of these big final day matchups.

Because of that misunderstanding, we’re actually seeing some value on Bayer Leverkusen in this game in the draw no bet market.

Bayer Leverkusen is on course for their best finish to a season since all the way back to the 2015/16 season and will likely show up big here in front of their fans for the final home game of the year.

While technically there’s very little to play for here for Leverkusen, enhancing their club-best goals record and topping off a fantastic season in front of their home fans are enough to get me to the window on ‘Die Werkself’ here and I’m taking them on Saturday to win at home against Freiburg over in the German Bundesliga.
