Chelsea vs Leicester City Analysis
Chelsea is coming off a tough defeat to Liverpool in the FA Cup final over the weekend. The match ended 0-0, with the Reds earning the trophy in a penalty kick shootout.
Leicester, unlike previous seasons in the EPL where they’ve tended to fade away late in the season, have gone through somewhat of a renaissance over the last couple of weeks, scoring eight goals combined against Norwich and Watford combined over their last two matchdays as they look to finish out the season strong.
Chelsea won the reverse fixture 3-0 between the two sides back in November with goals from Rudiger, Kante and Pulisic.
Leicester Looking For History To Repeat
The Foxes will look to put three wins together in the EPL for the first time since January 2021, which coincidentally culminated with a 2-0 victory over Chelsea in that run. Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers will no doubt hope history repeats itself here on Thursday.
If they’re going to achieve that, however, Leicester has to clean up a defense which has conceded in 17 of their 18 away league games this season and has averaged a colossal 3.25 goals per game to the other top four opponents on the road this year.
Chelsea Bounce Back After Heartbreak?
It’s been back-to-back seasons now where the Blues have managed to navigate their way to an FA Cup final only to come up short in the big game – last year against Leicester and this year against Liverpool. Even worse than that is the fact that Chelsea also lost the League Cup final to Liverpool on penalties back in February as well!
The good news for Chelsea, however, is that they came out strong after both of those games, rolling over Leicester City (two head-to-head’s that were just four days apart) in a 2-1 win last season with the scoreline flattering Leicester City somewhat as Chelsea were by far the superior team in that game and demolishing Burnley 4-0 as well in the game immediately after February’s League Cup final.
Chelsea vs Leicester City Prediction
We expect an entertaining game here on Thursday night between Leicester and Chelsea and it’s honestly a game that either side is capable of winning.
However, what’s interesting is the goals market as over the last few seasons both teams have had chances on the scoresheet and that shouldn’t be any different this year with both teams regressing defensively since last season.
Each of the last two head-to-heads between the two sides have featured exactly three goals and we expect that to land once again at a healthy +300 price tag on Thursday.
Take the exact 3 total goals prop on Thursday night at +300 as your play between Leicester and Chelsea this week over in the EPL.
