Euro 2024 Group F Preview and Betting Picks
Euro 2024 Group F sees Portugal, who absolutely blitzed their way through qualifying, take on Turkey, the Czech Republic, and Georgia, in what will be the latter’s first-ever major international appearance.
Both Portugal and Turkey finished top of their respective groups during qualifying, with the Czech Republic finishing level on points alongside Albania in their group also.
Georgia however finished 4th in qualification, needing to come through the playoffs in order to reach this stage where they overcame Greece as big outsiders in the playoff final.
Portugal go into this group as the outright favorites to finish top at current odds of -250. Turkey go in as the second favorites at +400, with the Czech Republic third at odds of +700, and finally Georgia at big odds of +1800 to finish in first.
Portugal Best Bets
To Win Group F (-250) | To Win Euro 2024 Tournament (+7500)
2016 European champions Portugal looked electric during qualifying, going a perfect 10-0 through their group and finishing with a full eight points more than any other nation as qualifying group leader.
Even more impressive than that was their goal differential which sat at a pretty insane 36-2 (36 goals scored, just 2 allowed), so even pointing towards the relatively weak crop of teams that they faced in that group, Portugal nevertheless showed that they’re still at the top table of European football and fully deserve their #1 favorites tag in this group.
Turkey Picks
To Win Group F (+400) | To Win Euro 2024 Tournament (+5000)
Many people’s dark horses of the last European Championship after finishing 2nd behind France during qualifying, Turkey certainly flattered to deceive in that tournament, finishing bottom of the group overall after losing all of their three games.
However, talk has again begun about Turkey being a potential dark horse for this tournament after a qualifying run that saw them top their group ahead of even the experienced Croatia who finished in second.
If the Turks can harness that same momentum ahead of this one then they could well enjoy a similar run that they had back in Euro 2008.
Czech Republic
To Win Group F (+700) | To Win Euro 2024 Tournament (+15000)
There perhaps isn’t a team in Euro 2024 that relies as heavily on a single player as the Czech Republic does on Patrik Schick.
Schick, who won the Bundesliga title with Bayer Leverkusen just a few weeks ago, has had severe injury concerns with his abductor over the last 12 months, leading him to miss a number of key games for the Czech Republic.
That absence showed just how stunted this Czech Republic attack is without him in the lineup, with a series of poor performances leading to the resignation of manager Jaroslav Silhavy at the end of 2023. Schick’s form therefore will be absolutely pivotal for the Czech Republic if they are going to progress from this group.
Georgia
To Win Group F (+1800) | To Win Euro 2024 Tournament (+50000)
Georgia’s first-ever international tournament looks set to be a tough one for them despite overcoming a solid Greece side during the qualification playoffs.
That’s because Georgia allowed a massive 18 goals during qualifying, including suffering a 7-1 annihilation at home to Spain during that run as well.
With players such as Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Metz’s Georges Mikautadze, Georgia certainly has the individual talent to cause problems here, but with a 4th place finish during qualifying (getting into this tournament due to their Nations League results), and generating just two competitive regulation time wins since June 2023, against Cyprus and Luxembourg respectively, Georgia’s route through to the knockout stage of this tournament looks like an extremely difficult ask.
Euro 2024 Group F Prediction!
Portugal should canter to a top-spot finish in this group given the level of individual talent they possess in their ranks and their experience in navigating major tournaments previously as well, especially the Euros.
Turkey looks like the in-form team right now to claim second spot in this group, but that collapse back in 2021 may be all too fresh for them, and having a team like the Czech Republic waiting in the wings here, especially with a finisher like Patrik Schick in their lineup, might create added pressure for them depending on how well their opening game against Georgia goes.
In terms of last place however, Georgia firmly look like the most likely candidates as they struggled massively during their qualifying run and their defense just hasn’t been up to scratch either.
If they can’t find a way to generate multiple goals per game, then the Georgians will very likely fold under the attacking talent of the other three teams in this group.
