Giresunspor vs Trabzonspor Betting Analysis

Mid-table Giresunspor travel over to Trabzon on Thursday to take on the Black Sea Storm of Trabzonspor as both teams look to close the gap on the leading pack in the Turkish Super Lig table.

Giresunspor have been on a good run of form of late, winning three of their last four games outright, including an excellent 2-1 victory on the road over current league leaders Fenerbahce.

Trabzonspor meanwhile have been dropping down the table recently, winning just two of their last seven league games overall and losing outright in blowout fashion against bottom-half Fatih Karagumruk last week in one of the biggest shocks of the season so far from a scoreline perspective.

The two sides don’t have a ton of history historically in this league with Giresunspor only getting promoted at the start of last season.

However, over those two clashes, Trabzonspor have one win along with a draw in this venue back in January of last year also.

Giresunspor Walking A Fine Line

Giresunspor manager Hakan Keles was delighted with his team’s win over Gaziantep last time out but bemoaned the number of chances they allowed to the visitors also, giving up more attacks and total shots than the away side in that game.

Those fine margins for Keles aren’t helped by an offense that has netted just 16 goals all season either, the 4th lowest tally in the league, with one of the lowest overall shot counts as well, so Giresunspor may continue to walk those fine margins in order to generate results this season.

Trabzonspor’s Home Fortress

The Black Sea Storm are one of only two teams this season yet to register a single loss at home, and have turned Medical Park Stadium into something of a fortress, generating 2.14 ppg there this season, one of the highest generated points totals in the league.

That success for Trabzonspor has been two-pronged this season as well, allowing the fewest goals in the league to opponents at home on defense this year, whilst simultaneously boasting an attack that ranks 3rd in overall offensive xG at home this year as well.

Giresunspor vs Trabzonspor Prediction

This line has continued to climb over the week as everyone is expecting a big response at home from the Super Lig champions after their embarrassing loss against Fatih Karagumruk last week.

That said, it’s been driven up too far for our liking with some books now showing Giresunspor getting a +1.25 headstart at around -125 at the time of writing.

Giresunspor are a team in some good form right now and defensively are extremely competent as well, ranking top half in the league on opponent goals allowed this season, so they should have more than enough to trouble Trabzonspor and keep this one close on Thursday. Take Giresunspor +1.25 in their matchup against Trabzonspor over in the Turkish Super Lig on Thursday.

Prediction: Giresunspor +1.25
