Chinese Super League league leaders Wuhan Three Towns travels to 16th-place Guangzhou FC on Thursday morning looking to extend their lead at the top of the table.

Wuhan is tied with Shanghai Shenhua on points this season but own a far superior goal difference to their rivals and will look to keep that advantage heading into Thursday’s game against Guangzhou FC.

Guangzhou FC, for their part, has struggled immensely this season, losing five of their opening six games, with that solitary win coming against bottom of the table Hebei FC also.

Wuhan Three Towns In Dominant Offensive Form

Averaging a red-hot 3.5 goals per game this season on offense, Wuhan Three Towns has been absolutely demolishing their opposition to start the year and that’s barely slowed down on the road either, with Wuhan averaging 2.67 goals per game.

Brazilian frontmen Marcao and Davidson have been instrumental to that success for Wuhan also as they’ve generated almost half of Wuhan’s total goals tally this season.

Guangzhou FC Much Better At Home This Season

While Guangzhou FC have allowed the third-most goals overall to opponents this year along with having the league’s fifth-highest xGA rating this season as well, it’s actually been Guangzhou FC’s poor road form which has been the issue for them this year, where they rank bottom of the league in opponent goals and own the league’s second-highest xGA rating this season on defense respectively.

At home it’s been a completely different story for the ‘South China Tigers’ as they rank top half in the league on overall goals allowed this year giving up just 0.67 goals per game on average to opponents, and they also own the league’s sixth-lowest xGA ranking this year as well.

With Guangzhou FC’s better overall home form this year, we believe there’s some value on backing the home dog in this one on the first half line at +1.25.
