Juventus vs Nantes Betting Analysis

Juventus will look to respond from an absolutely dismal Champions League run earlier this season where they crashed out of the competition tied on just 3 points with bottom-placed side Maccabi Haifa and five outright losses as well, their worst campaign run in Champions League history.

It hasn’t just been in Europe where Juventus have struggled this season either, with the Bianconeri getting docked points last month for financial misconduct.

This effectively ending their domestic title challenge, so it’s all or nothing for Juventus in the Europa League this season in their pursuit of major silverware.

They face a Nantes side here on Thursday who have struggled over in French Ligue 1 this season, booking their ticket into this competition via their Coupe de France victory last May.

Nonetheless, they did navigate themselves through the Europa League group stage finishing second behind German side Freiburg.

You’d have to go back to 1996 the last time these two teams faced each other in European Cup action, with no meetings between the two sides in almost 30 years.

Historic Qualification For Nantes

It’s been well over 20 years since the last time Nantes qualified for the knockout rounds of a major European competition, and they haven’t experienced glory days since the aforementioned Champions League semi-finals of 1996 where they bowed out against Juventus.

Since then it’s been largely quiet for Nantes on the European front, but they’ll be buoyed by their strong finish to the group stage of this competition, winning two straight games and beating Olympiacos over in Greece via a 2-0 scoreline as well.

Renewal Of Focus For Juventus

It’s been no surprise to see Juventus get installed as one of the tournament favorites for this competition after their early Champions League exit and domestic penalty combined, and that renewed level of focus here could make them a real threat in this competition.

After a tough stretch last month resulting from that 15-point penalty and a 5-1 destruction at the hands of Napoli, Juventus have since responded with three straight victories all of which came to nil as well.

Juventus vs Nantes Prediction

With the return of veteran defender Leonardo Bonucci to the lineup, Juventus have arguably never looked stronger defensively and their 63.6% clean sheet percentage this season, the highest percentage in Serie A, will very likely be extended here on Thursday.

Nantes own French Ligue 1’s third-lowest offensive scoring record on the road this season, as well as the third lowest expected goals average as well, so should struggle to break down a disciplined Juventus backline in this one.

Take Juventus to Win and Under 3.5 goals on Thursday in their Europa League matchup against Nantes over in Turin.
