Alaves at Sevilla | Friday January 12 | 3:00pm ET
Alaves +335 | Sevilla -110 | Draw +240
A winless run of five straight games has seen Alaves slip into the danger zone in LaLiga of late, with currently only two points separating them from 18th-placed Cadiz at the bottom of the table.
Friday night’s game over at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan however will go a long way in correcting that as they take on a team in Sevilla who are even lower in the table than they are, and who have also been in some fairly rough form of late themselves, losing four of their last five games overall.
A more worrying trend for Sevilla in this one is the fact that the one solitary win they did have in the league over the last couple of months came on the road, with no wins at home for the Rojiblancos since September’s victory against bottom-of-the-table Almeria.
Alaves meanwhile have actually been pretty decent away from home this season, ranking top half in the league in opponent goals against, defensive xGA, and 5th in opponent shots allowed per game away from home as well.
Alaves definitely has a shot of pulling the outright upset here on Friday and at current odds of +337, there are definitely worse bets out there to take this weekend.
However, despite all of their recent issues, four of Sevilla’s last six league home games have finished in a draw, and that’s the way we see this one going on Friday also.
Take the outright draw or, for an even bigger boost in odds, go with the Tie & Over 1.5 goals prop (basically any scoring tie, eliminating the 0-0), which has cashed in both of these two teams’ recent draws inside this venue since 2020.
La Liga Prediction: Tie & Over 1.5 (+360)
Granada at Real Betis | Saturday January 13 | 3:00pm ET
Granada +440 | Real Betis -165 | Draw +315
Another team in desperate relegation trouble this weekend is second-from-bottom Granada who travel over to the Benito Villamarin on Saturday to take on Real Betis.
Granada did however snap that recent winless curse with a 2-0 win over Cadiz last week, a result that’s given them some hope of staying in Spain’s top division heading into the new year.
They face a Real Betis side on Saturday who, while they have been in some patchy form of late themselves, have been strong at home this season, ranking as one of only three teams alongside Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid yet to lose a single game at home all season.
That said, those impressive stats for Betis are small comfort when you’re looking to back a team with a hefty -165 price tag attached that has won none of their last three games at home, something they’ll look to try and rectify this weekend against Granada.
Overall, we don’t see this being a particularly engrossing fixture, with Betis being extremely tight defensively at home this season (joint-1st in goals allowed, joint-2nd in defensive xGA), while Granada, with four of their last five road games resulting in scoring blanks for them, can ill afford to get in a shootout here, so they’re also likely to come into this one with a fairly cautious attitude as well.
Due to that, we’re backing the Real Betis to Win & Under 2.5 goals prop at a healthy price to cash for us this weekend (Betis to win either 1-0 or 2-0), a result that took place in their last meeting here back in May 2022.
La Liga Prediction: Real Betis Win & Under 2.5 (+275)
Valencia at Cadiz | Saturday January 14 | 10:15am ET
Valencia +170 | Cadiz +190 | Draw +200
Cadiz, a team in some of the worst form in all of Europe right now, will hope it’s a new year, new results in 2024 as they finally try to kick things into gear this weekend in their first home matchup of the year against Valencia.
Cadiz haven’t won a game inside 90 minutes across any meaningful competition since September, with some extra-time penalty Cup heroics and a club-friendly victory being the only bright spots on what’s been an incredibly dismal year for them overall.
When you factor in all of Europe’s top five leagues combined, Cadiz actually ranks 92nd in scoring offense this year, out of 96 teams, showing how tough they’ve found it to hit the mark this season in front of goals.
Facing them on Sunday is a team in Valencia that have won three straight games heading into this weekend’s matchup, albeit the last one coming in extra-time against Cartagena in the Copa del Rey.
Their two league wins however came in solid fashion, blowing out Villarreal 3-1 at home ten days ago, and beating a good Rayo Vallecano team 1-0 on the road also.
Despite that victory over Rayo Vallecano however, Valencia have not been good away from home this season, winning just two games on the road all year, the first of which came all the way back on the opening day of the season against Sevilla.
Valencia owns a less-than-stellar record when visiting this venue as well, not having won at the Nuevo Mirandilla since 2005, and losing two of the last three outright here against Cadiz as well.
If you have access to card markets for this game, the Cadiz Over might be worth a look here as only Getafe has amassed more total booking points this season than Cadiz have, with their last H2H against Valencia featuring a straight red card for Cadiz’s Robert Navarro as well.
In terms of a straight prop bet on the result however, Cadiz have obviously struggled to score this season, and could very likely do so again, so back the Cadiz Total Goals Under 0.5 on Sunday at a healthy price to cash in this one.
La Liga Prediction: Cadiz Team Total Goals – Under 0.5 (+180)
