Leeds vs Everton Analysis
A four-game winless start to the season for Everton has them rooted firmly in the relegation zone to kick off Match Day 5 on Tuesday, and Frank Lampard will need a positive result sooner rather than later if Everton is to survive in the EPL for another season.
Everton did produce a solid performance from Chelsea target Anthony Gordon over the weekend, as he netted the opening goal for the Toffees to secure a draw against Brentford. Everton was under the cosh for the majority of that game with Brentford crashing the ball against the bar on three separate occasions but failing to find the winner.
Despite losing against Brighton over the weekend, Leeds still find themselves in an impressive fifth position in the table and head coach Jesse Marsch will no doubt be pleased with how the Elland Road club has started the season so far.
However, a somewhat fortunate win over Wolves in their opening game followed by a two-goal late-game collapse against Southampton has nevertheless been a concern for Leeds, with their win against Chelsea being their only standout performance of the year so far.
Road Drought Continues For Everton
It looked, for a brief moment, like Everton would finally snap their run of only earning one road win since last August. They led for the majority of the game against Brentford over the weekend, however, an 84th-minute Vitaly Janelt strike ended those hopes and it’s now been a run of just one win over their last 19 Premier League road games in all for Frank Lampard’s men heading into Tuesday’s fixture against Leeds.
Hot Start For Rodrigo
Leeds’ lone frontman Rodrigo has enjoyed a hot start to the EPL season so far, netting four times over the opening four games of the season to not only rank as the joint second top goalscorer this season, but also own the league’s third-highest team contribution percentage as well.
Rodrigo should get plenty of opportunities in this one also as he faces an Everton side allowing the second-highest defensive xGA away from home this year.
Leeds vs Everton Prediction
Everton is going off at around -130 on the +0.5 handicap line on Tuesday, and that’s the way we’re looking to play this one.
While Everton has had their issues on the road going all the way back to last season, just four losses from their last nine games away from home means they’re still nevertheless hard to beat and should provide a solid test for Leeds here.
The other factor is of course we’re still not completely sold on Leeds’ record either. The Whites are still basking in the glow of that 3-0 victory over Chelsea just over a week ago, but that was possibly the worst Chelsea performance of the entire Thomas Tuchel era and Leeds has done very little beyond that in the EPL so far.
We believe Everton can hang tight in this one, so we’re taking them on the +0.5 handicap line here on Tuesday to get a result on the road against Leeds over in the English Premier League.
