Lens vs Monaco Analysis
Lens will look to leapfrog both Nice and Strasbourg in Ligue 1 on the final matchday of the season with a European placement on the line for them.
However, with just three wins from their last six games at home and needing both Nice and Strasbourg to slip up in their respective games, that looks like a slim possibility for ‘Les Sang et Or’ ahead of this weekend.
After an incredibly slow start to their campaign, Monaco has really turned it on over the back half of the season, ranking as the league’s No. 1 team since January 1st.
Lens won the reverse fixture between these two back in August with two goals from Ganago and Banza to secure the win, however Monaco struck back in January, knocking Lens out of the Coupe de France via an impressive 4-2 win on the road.
Huge Turnaround For Monaco
After an incredibly slow start to the season which saw the ‘Monegasques’ win just five games from their opening 15 matches, it’s been a monumental turnaround for the principality club over the back half of the season.
Since December 1st, no team has come close to matching Monaco’s impressive record, streaking five points clear of next-best PSG and Strasbourg as Ben Yedder and Co. continue to be in red-hot form in front of goals for Monaco this season.
Lens’ Long 15-Year European Wait
It’s been 15 years since the northern French club Lens graced the European stage in world football, and it isn’t a particularly enjoyable memory for them either.
Just one win from four in the old UEFA Cup ensured Lens finished bottom of their group in the 2006/07 season and they’ll be hoping for a much better showing next season provided they somehow manage to punch their ticket into European qualification for this weekend.

We’re expecting goals in this one on Saturday between Monaco and Lens. Monaco is in some absolutely ruthless form in front of nets right now, scoring 20 goals over their last eight games in all with Ben Yedder coming off a hat-trick last weekend against Brest as well.
Similarly, Lens has bagged 15 goals is their last eight games so this should be an extremely entertaining game to watch here on Saturday as both sides push for a win and guaranteed European football for next season in a game we’re expecting to see at least 3 goals in for this weekend.
