Liverpool vs Norwich Analysis
Liverpool will look to go on the hunt for their second trophy of the season after winning the Carabao Cup last weekend and are still firmly in the hunt for this season’s Premier League and Champions league trophies also.
Norwich meanwhile will look to just stay in a competition that offers their only chance of silverware this season as they sit firmly rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table.
Liverpool have won each of the last six meetings against Norwich and have scored at least three goals in five of those six matchups as well.
Hottest Team in England
It’s been ten-straight victories for the ‘Reds’ ahead of Wednesday’s clash against Norwich, including Sunday’s Carabao Cup win over Chelsea, and the Merseysiders are in some absolutely ruthless form right now, covering the -1.5 handicap in eight of their last ten matchups.
Liverpool put six goals past a hapless Leeds United defense last week, with both Mo Salah and Sadio Mane combining for a brace each, and with Norwich ranking lower this season than Leeds on overall defensive expected goals against, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see them equal that feat here either.
“6 Out of 10”
Norwich manager Dean Smith blasted his team’s performance last Friday against Southampton, calling it a “6 out of 10” right across the board and a tough night overall, one in which Southampton could well have scored a few more goals in as well.
However, one positive note for Norwich ahead of this one is their result against this same Liverpool side just ten days ago.
While the ‘Canaries’ eventually went on to lose that game 3-1, they did have Liverpool in all sorts of trouble early on and were leading 1-0 with just 30 minutes left in the match before Liverpool finally penetrated the Norwich backline with 3 consecutive goals to close out the game.
Liverpool vs Norwich Prediction
Liverpool is in some absolutely ruthless form in front of goals right now and it’s hard to look past them scoring multiple goals once again in this one.
The ‘Reds’ have scored 2.86 goals per game in the English Premier League since the new year and have the highest expected goals average in the league as well.
Norwich on the other hand have the highest expected goals against average in the league this season at the other end, allowing over 2.00 xGA per game to opponents this season, and while they were competitive in spots against Liverpool in their game ten days ago, Liverpool looked decidedly average for most of that game and yet still scored three goals in less than 20 minutes to secure a late win.
The Liverpool team total is set at 2.5 for this game and we’re going over that number here on Wednesday.
Liverpool has eclipsed that 2.5 number in five of their last six meetings against Norwich across all competitions and in the form they’re in right now, it’s hard to look past them doing it again here on Wednesday.
Take the Liverpool team total over 2.5 goals on Wednesday night in their clash against Norwich in the FA Cup.
