Napoli vs Eintracht Frankfurt Betting Analysis
Napoli continued their assault at the top of the Serie A table after yet another comprehensive 2-0 victory over Atalanta on the weekend and will look to follow that up by booking their first ticket to a Champions League quarter-final in their club’s history against last year’s Europa League winners Eintracht Frankfurt in Naples on Wednesday.
Frankfurt for their part are on a really poor run of form of late, winning just one of their last six games overall as they look to overturn a 2-goal deficit from the first leg against one of Europe’s best teams this season on their home patch.
That will be no easy task for obvious reasons, but Frankfurt can at least take some solace from the fact they won 1-0 the last time they came to this venue albeit almost 30 years ago back in 1994.
Frankfurt’s Post-World Cup Road Woes
Eintracht Frankfurt have failed to win a single road game post-World Cup 2022 across any competition, and that’s a real concern for coach Oliver Glasner heading into this one.
Pre-World Cup, Eintracht Frankfurt were actually the Bundesliga’s 2nd best road team overall behind only Bayern Munich. However, since domestic action resumed back at the end of January, Frankfurt are now joint 12th overall with just 3 points banked from a possible 15 on the road.
Injury List Widens For Napoli
With the punishing schedule of two elite competitions to contend with, it’s been no surprise to see some Napoli players hit the IR list over recent weeks.
Both Hirving Lozano and Giacomo Raspadori will miss Wednesday’s clash through injury, but there’s a chance huge defensive presence Kim Min-Jae might be back in the lineup.
He was involved in Sunday’s training session with the squad after he came off against Atalanta on Saturday with an ice-pack around his injured calf.
Napoli vs Eintracht Frankfurt Expert Prediction
Napoli have been incredible at home this season, losing just once inside the Diego Armando Maradona across all games in Champions League and Serie A this season, and have allowed an average of just 0.69 goals per game to opponents in the league here as well.
Considering Eintracht Frankfurt have netted more than one goal just once away from home since they returned to league action, it’s hard to envision them overcoming the sizeable deficit facing them in this one and booking their place into the quarter-finals.
Napoli just have to hold the status quo here, so while both teams are obviously extremely offensively proficient, we’re expecting a lower-scoring affair in this one, and one where at least one of the teams fails to find the back of the net in as well.
