New England Revolution vs Nashville SC Betting Analysis
Nashville is off to a strong start this season earning seven points through three matches thanks to their defense which has still yet to allow a goal, the only team in the MLS that has not conceded. It’s not a fluke either.
They have allowed an average of just 0.43 xGA per 90 minutes, which leads the league, on only 8.3 shots, 4th fewest, and only 1.7 on target, 2nd fewest.
It’s also worth mentioning that their schedule has been difficult as well facing both New York sides as well as last year’s #2 seed in the East, Montreal.
Nashville hasn’t generated much on the offensive side of the ball though, but mostly because they haven’t needed too.
Through three games, they are averaging just 1.03 xG per match on a measly 8.7 shots with 2.7 on target, both ranking in the bottom five of the league. However, this is a team that averaged 1.60 xG last season which ranked 8th in the league and not much has changed on their roster.
The only major departure they experienced was on the defensive side of the ball as Dave Romney who played all but five matches in Nashville’s first three seasons in the league moved on to, ironically, this New England side.
Mukhtar Must Improve For Nashville SC
So far reigning Golden Boot winner Hany Mukhtar has not contributed but that will eventually change. However, the recipe of him running through the middle of the field and gathering all the attention before dishing it off for someone else to take the shot seems to be working well.
But because of their defense, they haven’t needed to push for goals and it has proven to be very difficult to grab an equalizer on them.
New England won their first two matches this season, albeit against two sides that failed to make the playoffs last year in Charlotte and Houston.
However, reality set in last weekend as they travelled to the reigning champs LAFC and were walloped 4-0 while generating just 0.3 xG along the way on only four shots.
Revolution Refuse to Make Most of Easy Schedule
Even with two layup games to start the season, New England is averaging just 1.03 xG per match which is certainly worrisome against a defense as strong as Nashville’s.
However, dating back to last season, the problem for the Revolution was more on the defensive end as they allowed 1.60 xGA per 90 minutes which ranked as the 5th worst in the league and this season, they are on the exact same number.

I already mentioned former Nashville defender Dave Romney as an addition to this team to try and shore up that backline while the Revs also added Latif Blessing from LAFC as a transition piece in the midfield.
On paper, they should be due for a slight improvement this season, but I’m not expecting much, and I don’t buy that they should be the favorite here.
I expect Nashville to continue to do what they have been doing this season and limit New England’s chances. I like Nashville getting the head start and the Under in this match.
