Brighton vs Chelsea | Feb 14 | 3:00PM ET

Two teams that met less than a week ago resume hostilities on Friday night down on the south coast as Brighton host Chelsea over at the Amex.

The Seagulls knocked Chelsea out of the FA Cup last weekend thanks to a come-from-behind 2-1 victory at home, yet cup success for Brighton hasn’t translated into their league form, coming off a 7-0 demolition at the hands of Nottingham Forest two weeks ago, as well as going winless across each of their last five Premier League home starts also.

That said, the Seagulls face a Chelsea team here on Friday who aren’t exactly in sparkling form themselves right now either, failing to win any of their five previous road league starts, as well as amassing a paltry two points away from home in the league since mid-December.

Brighton has tended to play Chelsea tight in this venue across recent seasons, losing just one of their last four home starts against Chelsea over at the Amex, with the Seagulls traditionally faring well against teams inside the top four also, going unbeaten this season at home against the other three teams in that bracket.

Chelsea just haven’t been the same force they were earlier in the season under new boss Enzo Maresca, and since December 1st, actually rank bottom-half in the league in defensive xGA.

Despite their drubbing last time out against Nottingham Forest, expect a response from Brighton in this one as they cover the line at home against Chelsea on Friday.

Aston Villa vs Ipswich | Feb 15 | 10:00AM ET

Two teams that battled their way through to the last 16 of the FA Cup last week meet on Saturday as the Tractor Boys of Ipswich head west to take on Aston Villa in Birmingham.

Ipswich overcame Championship side Coventry fairly routinely last weekend to book their place through to the next round, with little to no drama as they ran out comfortable 4-1 winners on the road in that game.

Aston Villa meanwhile had a little more trouble in dispatching Tottenham at home in their cup clash, with Spurs providing some late drama in that game, but the Villains nonetheless getting over the line as they now look forward to facing Cardiff City in the next round of the FA Cup.

In league action however, Aston Villa have gone winless in three straight games, with their top-four aspirations taking another battering against derby rivals Wolves last time out via a 2-0 road loss. That defeat meant the Villains slipped a full seven points off Chelsea in fourth spot, holding a massive -19 goal differential over Chelsea also.

However, despite all of Aston Villa’s concerns heading into the business end of the season, Ipswich have even more things to worry about right now, with a loss against bottom-of-the-table Southampton last time out meaning the Tractor Boys have now lost four straight games in the league via a lopsided 14-2 goals margin, and are in desperate need of a reversal of fortune if they intend to stay in the Premier League for another season.

Six of the last seven meetings between these two sides at this venue have seen Aston Villa score exactly two goals, and with them following that scoreline up with yet another 2-1 win against Tottenham in the FA Cup last week, we wouldn’t be surprised to see the Villains find the back of the net two more times this Saturday.

Premier League Prediction: Total Goals Exact – 2 (+225)

Liverpool vs Wolves | Feb 16 | 9:00AM ET

Liverpool -535 | Wolves +1155 | Draw +700

It’s been an extremely busy month for league-leaders Liverpool so far across February as in the first two weeks of the month alone, the Reds have played twice the number of games that their opponents for this weekend Wolves have across that same timeframe.

Despite Liverpool fans potentially hinting at a historic quadruple just after the Christmas break (league, Europe, and both domestic cup competitions), those hopes were dashed pretty conclusively when Championship side Plymouth managed to put Liverpool out of the FA Cup thanks to an early second-half penalty.

Wolves meanwhile advanced through to the next round of the FA Cup thanks to a 2-0 win against Blackburn, a result that was echoed in their previous league encounter also as they overcame local rivals Aston Villa via the exact same scoreline.

Despite some patchy form of late, winning just three of their last six Premier League games overall, Liverpool holds a terrific head-to-head record against Wolves at Anfield across recent seasons, winning all of their previous seven league meetings here, as well as shutting Wolves out completely in five of those seven wins also.

No team has amassed more clean sheets this season than Liverpool have, and despite Wolves’ recent success, we believe the Reds can pitch yet another shutout here on Sunday.
