Manchester City vs Ipswich | August 24 | 10:00AM ET

Manchester City -1245 | Ipswitch +2400 | Draw +1130

A comfortable 2-0 away win against Chelsea last week saw the Cityzens get over their first hurdle in their pursuit of lifting yet another Premier League trophy this season, and they’ll be eager to kick off their home campaign on Saturday as well against a newly-promoted Ipswich team that came up short against Liverpool last weekend.

Ipswich’s 2-0 loss to the Reds wasn’t for the lack of trying however as the Tractor Boys came very close to taking the lead in that game last week, with Axel Tuanzebe’s header going narrowly over the bar just before the break.

Ipswich however faces an even bigger challenge this week against the defending champions on their home patch, and it looks like a bridge too far for them on the eye test, especially considering that Manchester City are currently in the midst of a 30-game unbeaten run in the league at home heading into Saturday’s matchup.

It’s always going to be difficult to find much value in a champions versus newly-promoted matchup, but while it’s still a steep price, Erling Haaland to get on the scoresheet here at -210 arguably offers the best value for this game in our opinion.

Haaland has a knack of scoring against newly promoted sides, scoring against all six of them across his last two seasons at Manchester City, and we’re backing him to continue that trend against Ipswich this weekend.

Premier League Prediction: Anytime Goalscorer – Erling Haaland (-210)

Southampton vs Nottingham Forest | August 24 | 10:00AM ET

Southampton +150 | Nottingham Forest +180 | Draw +240

Nottingham Forest will no doubt be rueing the fact that they were unable to take all three points at home against Bournemouth last week, with Antoine Semenyo’s fortunate rebound giving the visitors a share of the spoils in that game.

That leaves Nottingham Forest with a tricky trip down to the south coast in order to get something on Saturday facing a Southampton side that lost narrowly away to Newcastle United themselves last week.

The St. Mary’s faithful will be out in full force for this one given it’s their opening home game of the season, but will nonetheless be bitterly disappointed with that result against Newcastle last week, especially given the level of dominance Southampton enjoyed in that game.

Four of the last five meetings between these two sides have produced at least 3 goals in the game, and we see a similar scenario playing out here on Saturday also.

Only Luton Town gave up more set-piece goals away from home last season than Nottingham Forest did, with a massive 75% of Southampton’s home games down in the Championship seeing at least 3 goals scored as well last season, so goals should be on the cards at St. Mary’s this weekend.

Look for this one to go Over the total on Saturday.

Premier League Prediction: Over 2.5 (-115)

Wolves vs Chelsea | August 25 | 9:00AM ET

Wolves +350 | Chelsea -140 | Draw +300

Both teams enter this one coming off similar 2-0 defeats against the two best teams in the league last week, and will no doubt look to bounce back as a result in this one against much more manageable opposition.

For Wolves, an early goal by Kai Havertz left them chasing the game throughout last week, and with Wolves not having the greatest attacking options in the league, that was always going to present problems for them against a team as defensively robust as Arsenal are.

Chelsea meanwhile were left chasing penalty appeals in their game against Manchester City last weekend, all to no avail however, and will no doubt hope that their greater attacking threat can finally kick into gear for them on Sunday.

Wolves had Chelsea’s number last season, beating them in both home and away fixtures, and have won all of the last three contests between the two teams as well.

With Chelsea continuing to spend and bolster their squad significantly throughout the summer however, it’s surely just a matter of time until that trend is reversed one would imagine.

That said, Wolves looked solid at the back last week against Arsenal, and should present a real roadblock to a misfiring Chelsea team in this one, so we’re backing the Under 3 goals on Sunday in what should be a lower scoring game than anticipated this weekend.

Premier League Prediction: Under 3 (-125)
