Bournemouth vs Manchester City | February 24 | 12:30pm ET
Bournemouth +560 | Manchester City -235 | Draw +400
Manchester City were forced to scramble back from a 1-0 deficit late last weekend as they found themselves down early against Chelsea thanks to the efforts of former player Raheem Sterling hitting the back of the net just before the break.
That pretty much followed suit in City’s Tuesday night matchup against Brentford as well with City, despite owning a 25-6 shot advantage in that game, being forced to find another late winner from frontman Erling Haaland.
Those late issues for Manchester City really haven’t been all that much of a concern for them this season, especially at home, where they boast the league’s highest home win percentage at the break at 77%.
However, away from home, things have been a lot more tricky for Manchester City this season, sitting all the way down in 15th spot in the table in terms of owning a HT winning record, with just two of their twelve road games (17%) this season seeing City lead at the break.
By comparison, Bournemouth have been losing at HT in just 18% of their home games this season, and drawing in 64% of their home matches at HT also, the second-highest mark in the league.
Only two of the last four meetings at the Vitality Stadium between Manchester City and Bournemouth have seen City leading at HT, and with current odds of +160 for Bournemouth to still be level in this game after 45 minutes, we’re taking the juicy odds on the outright draw at HT this weekend in the matchup between Manchester City and Bournemouth on the south coast.
Premier League Prediction: 1H Draw (+160)
Wolves vs Sheffield United | February 25 | 8:30am ET
Wolves -210 | Sheffield United +570 | Draw +360
A spicy affair is expected over at the Molineux this weekend as last-placed Sheffield United travel to the West Midlands to take on 11th-placed Wolves on Sunday.
These two teams have combined for two of the highest aggression stats in the Premier League this season, with Sheffield United racking up 72 yellow cards and 4 red’s, while Wolves sit just below them with 63 yellow’s and 3 red’s, putting them 2nd and 3rd respectively in the so-called EPL ‘aggression’ table this year.
The last meeting between these two sides back in November was a tackle-heavy affair also, with both Sheffield United and Wolves combining for six yellow cards in that game.
Leading that aggression list for Sheffield United this season is young Bosnian defender Anel Ahmedhodzic, who has totaled up seven yellow cards across just 1,665 minutes of action this season, one of the highest frequency rates in the entire league.
Because of that, Ahmedhodzic is the favorite to get shown a card on Sunday, and especially against a team such as Wolves who will look to match Sheffield United’s intensity on the pitch with some fire of their own.
Take Anel Ahmedhodzic to be carded on Sunday in Sheffield United’s matchup against Wolves over at the Molineux.
Premier League Prediction: Anel Ahmedhodzic to be Shown a Card (+138)
West Ham vs Brentford | February 26 | 3:00pm ET
West Ham +145 | Brentford +175 | Draw +260
It’s been two straight defeats on the bounce now for Brentford heading into Monday evening’s matchup against West Ham, but at least they came against the top two teams in the division in Liverpool and Manchester City respectively, with Brentford almost frustrating City to an outright draw in midweek over at the Etihad.
West Ham meanwhile have been in even worse form ahead of Monday’s clash, with the Hammers losing each of their last three league games outright, and are now winless in six straight league games also.
Last weekend’s defeat against Nottingham Forest was especially deflating for the Hammers who found themselves simply out-gunned for large portions of that match, and they badly need to find more offensive production from somewhere if they’re going to get a positive result from this game on Monday.
The good news for the Hammers however is that they’ve been much tighter defensively at home this season than they have been on the road, giving up a full ten goals fewer in East London than they have done on their travels this season.
That extends to their half-time form as well, with the Hammers keeping a clean sheet in 67% of their home first halves this season compared with just 38% in the second half.
That matches up well against a Brentford side in this one that also tends to play tighter away from home this season than they do at home, with the Bees owning the league’s 2nd best clean sheet percentage on the road this year at 67%.
Both teams have a combined average of just 17% when factoring in both teams finding the back of the net in games featuring both Brentford and West Ham this season from a home/road perspective, and we expect that cautiousness to continue in this game with a first half under cashing on Monday.
Premier League Prediction: 1H Under 1.25 (-160)
