PSG vs Monaco Analysis
French league leaders Paris Saint-Germain travel to Monaco on Sunday hoping to bounceback off a tough five game run, losing three of their last five games outright.
Monaco meanwhile have had issues of their own, getting dumped out of the Coupe de France two weeks ago against Nantes and winning just one of their last five French Ligue 1 games in all.
PSG won the reverse fixture between these two back in December with a 2-0 home win in Paris with Kylian Mbappe scoring a brace in that one.
Pochettino Under Pressure
It’s been a difficult two weeks for PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino as his side were dramatically dumped out of the Champions League ten days ago by a scintillating second half display from Karim Benzema who netted a late second half hat-trick for ‘Los Blancos’.
That loss has put the Argentinian head coach under enormous pressure as domestic results haven’t exactly bailed him out of late either with PSG gaining just six points from a possible twelve over their last four league starts.
Monaco Failing to Live Up to Pre-Season Expectations
Monaco were seen as genuine title challengers by many to start this season. They’d brought in some good players in the summer transfer window like Myron Boadu and Jean Lucas to bolster their midfield and attack, and had proven goalscoring threats up front also in the likes of Kevin Volland and Wissam Ben Yedder.
However, it simply hasn’t panned out for Monaco this season as despite all of their obvious talent, they’ve simply failed to match expectations this year, currently sitting 9th in the table and going winless over their last two home games as well.
PSG vs Monaco Prediction
This is a very tricky game to predict on Sunday with both teams in some really patchy form of late.
All of the three most recent head-to-head’s between these two have seen two goals or fewer being scored, yet all of the previous twelve before those saw three goals or more.
The best bet in this game may well be the PSG Team Total Over 1.5 here at -138 on Sunday.
Even with the recent head-to-head’s between these two finishing under the total, PSG have scored at least two goals in two of those three games and have averaged 3.1 goals per game against Monaco across all of their last ten head-to-heads.
Take the PSG Team Total Over 1.5 on Sunday as they take on Monaco over in French Ligue 1.
