Salernitana vs Venezia Analysis
With only three games remaining in this season’s Serie A it’s all coming down to the wire as two of Serie A’s three relegations teams face off against each other on Thursday evening in a must-win matchup for both teams if they’re to ensure their survival in Serie A for next season.
Salernitana took the reverse fixture between these two back in October via a 2-1 scoreline inside the Stadio Pierluigi Penzo with a last gasp 95th minute winner from Andrea Schiavone claiming all three points for the visitors.
Venezia Need Massive Turnaround
It’s been a season to forget this year for Venezia as the road team enter Thursday’s crucial must-win fixture against Salernitana with nine straight losses in Serie A competition over the last few months and haven’t won a game in the league since early February.
The only potential upside ahead of this game for Venezia is that they’ve actually been better away from home this season than at home, having more wins and allowing fewer goals on the road over 2021/22 than in Venice.
Salernitana Look To Build Off Recent Success
It’s been four games unbeaten now for Salernitana coming into Thursday’s matchup, three of which were outright wins, as they come off a somewhat unlucky draw against Atalanta on Monday night.
‘I Granata’ led for most of that game before a late strike from Mario Pasalic gave the home side a share of the spoils.
With a game in hand over Cagliari however, Salernitana will fancy their chances of continuing their good form here and finally pushing themselves outside of the relegation zone.

It’s hard to look past anything other than a Salernitana victory here on Thursday evening with the form both teams are currently in right now.
While Venezia continue to play tough in games losing by only one goal in four of their last five contests and often against good teams as well such as Juventus, Atalanta and Fiorentina, they are nevertheless finding ways to come up short in those matches and we expect no different here on Thursday as it looks increasingly unlikely ‘I Leoni alati’ will escape the drop this season.
Salernitana are approaching their best form of the season right now and we expect them to deliver another win at home here on Thursday against Venezia over in Italian Serie A.
