Schalke 04 vs Wolfsburg Betting Analysis
Back-to-back losses now for Wolfsburg heading into Friday’s matchup over in the German Bundesliga has seen them drop off the pace in the race for Europe next season.
They’ll no doubt be chomping at the bit to get back to winning ways in this one against the league’s bottom side on Friday.
Schalke 04, who sit bottom in the league overall in 18th spot, are winless in five straight games themselves, but have only lost two of their last four at home, both coming against two of the top teams in the league in RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich.
These two teams have played competitively in this venue over recent seasons, with both teams owning a W2, D1, L2 record over their last five head-to-heads in this venue.
However, something to note is that Schalke 04 won seven straight against Wolfsburg in Gelsinkirchen before that recent five-game stretch, but Wolfsburg have actually won the two most recent meetings here by at least a two-goal margin.
Wolfsburg Struggling On The Road Defensively
Despite a league table that puts Wolfsburg in 2nd position in defensive scoring on the road this season behind only league leaders Bayern Munich.

With a 0-0 draw away to a solid Borussia Monchengladbach side at the weekend, Schalke 04 manager Thomas Reis has stated that ‘something is growing’ inside the Schalke 04 camp as they’ve gone two games unbeaten in the league for the first time since September.
New centre-back Moritz Jenz may have a lot to do with that newfound confidence for Schalke 04, as ‘Die Konigsblauen’ have also put together back-to-back clean sheets since bringing in the FC Lorient loanee.

While Wolfsburg are no doubt the superior team in this one overall, that simply hasn’t been the case on the road this season.
Schalke 04 are the ones who actually own the slightly better offensive xG and defensive xGA numbers this year over Wolfsburg based on home/road form splits.
Apart from a three-game mini road winning run across the World Cup break, all coming against teams in the bottom half of the table it must be added, Wolfsburg have secured just one win outside of that all season.
Their xGD differential is a full 1.32 goals less away from home than what their numbers have been inside the Volkswagen Arena this year.
