Athletic Club vs Granada | Friday April 19 | 3:00pm ET
Athletic Club -365 | Granada +1100 | Draw +500
Granada are hoping for the miracle of all miracles when they travel to Bilbao on Friday night to take on Athletic Club.
The Andalusian side currently sits 11 points from safety in the league table with a far inferior goal difference as well, but did at least show in their last game against Deportivo Alaves that not all hope is lost with a 2-0 win at home.
Facing them are an Athletic Bilbao team in this one who are still hunting for a top-four spot in the league, sitting just four points off Atletico Madrid in 4th, but are a team that showed they may still be in recovery mode after their historic Copa del Rey victory two weeks ago, the team’s first major piece of silverware in 40 years.
That hangover felt itself in Bilbao’s last performance against Villarreal at the weekend, with the Lions being extremely sloppy defensively in that game, giving away two penalties and coming out with a draw at home.
Granada have also taken points off Bilbao across all of their three previous meetings in the league as well, owning a W1, D2, L0 record against Athletic Club since late 2021.
With so much on the line here for Granada, plus a strong recent head-to-head record along with Athletic Club likely still not fully focused after their historic cup win, +1.75 looks like an absolutely huge line to cover here considering the circumstances, and we’re happy to side with the away team as a result here on Friday over at the Estadio San Mames.
Spanish La Liga Prediction: Granada +1.75 (-123)
Celta Vigo vs Las Palmas | Saturday April 20 | 8:00am ET
Celta Vigo -125 | Las Palmas +375 | Draw +275
Celta Vigo are another team that find themselves deep in the relegation battle this season, although admittedly in a much better position than Granada are, sitting 17th in the table overall, with just three points separating them from Cadiz in 18th, and therefore the rest of the relegation pack.
With just one win across their last six games at home however, it hardly inspires much confidence that Celta Vigo can make a solid run over the last few weeks of the season to put some distance between themselves and the drop zone at the bottom of the table.
However, Celta Vigo will nonetheless hope to improve that dismal recent home record here on Saturday against a Las Palmas side that looks all but checked out at this point of the season, coming off four consecutive losses in the league without scoring a single goal across any of those games either, as they currently sit in relative mid-table safety.
The last time these two teams met back in October of last year, Celta Vigo went off as slight +160 favorites, understandable given the fact that they were on the road for that game.
However, at a current price of -125 to get the victory in Saturday’s matchup, that represents a huge swing in the market, and one that accurately reflects the enormous motivation gap between both of these teams right now.
Despite the line value being all but gone however, Celta Vigo are still the only way we could look in this one given their current predicament in the league table, plus Las Palmas looking like they already have one foot on the beach ahead of this game as well.
Spanish La Liga Prediction: Celta Vigo ML (-125)
Real Madrid vs Barcelona | Sunday April 21 | 3:00pm ET
Real Madrid -135 | Barcelona +355 | Draw +315
One of Europe’s premier sporting events, El Clasico, kicks off this weekend as two of Europe’s most successful ever clubs, Barcelona and Real Madrid, square off for the 257th time on Sunday.
Both teams record in this series have been unsurprisingly extremely close, with Real Madrid on 104 wins, Barcelona on 100 wins, with 52 draws taking place over that period as well.
Real Madrid has owned the bragging rights across this particular season though, beating Barcelona in the Super Cup, knocking Barcelona out of the Copa del Rey also, and currently owning a sizeable eight-point lead at the top of the LaLiga standings as well.
While we’re writing this ahead of Real Madrid’s trip to Manchester City on Wednesday evening over in the Champions League, it’s fair to assume that it couldn’t get any worse than what Barcelona were forced to endure on Tuesday night, witnessing a complete collapse on home turf against a front foot heavy PSG side that overturned a first-leg deficit and handed Barcelona their exit papers via a 4-1 demolition.
How quickly Barcelona can rebound from that, a competition they were all in on as well, is debatable, and a trip over to the Bernabeu to take on their arch-rivals on Sunday is hardly an ideal welcome-back party for them.
Real Madrid can potentially put a fork in Barcelona’s entire season this weekend with an outright victory at home, and given the way the series has unfolded already this year, along with Barcelona’s total meltdown in midweek, we’ll back Los Blancos to get the job done at home in this one.
Spanish La Liga Prediction: Real Madrid ML (-135)
