Real Sociedad vs Real Madrid | Friday April 26 | 3:00pm ET

With a 3-2 victory over Barcelona at the weekend thanks to the efforts of a late Jude Bellingham winner, Real Madrid has effectively put this LaLiga title race to bed, and can now concentrate almost exclusively on next week’s huge semi-final clash against German giants Bayern Munich over at the Allianz Arena.
With huge back-to-back victories secured against both Manchester City and Barcelona inside just a few days last week, Real Madrid may well view Friday’s game against Real Sociedad as a chance to rest, recuperate, and rotate their squad before next week’s massive game against Bayern.
Real Sociedad meanwhile are on the outside looking in currently in terms of next season’s European qualification, but they’ll be eager not to cede any more ground to Real Betis as the 6th spot could become pivotal depending on how the co-efficient rankings for each of the top five leagues pans out in Europe at the end of the season.
Real Sociedad are in some good form right now overall, unbeaten in five straight games in the league, and have taken points off Real Madrid in two of their last three games in San Sebastian also, including a 2-0 win here back in May of last year.
Real Sociedad’s defense has been on point this season also, especially at home, where they rank top five in the league in defensive xGA this year, so with Los Blancos likely viewing this game as a bit of a break in the schedule between huge matchups against Manchester City, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich, Real Sociedad could well capitalize on Friday night over at the Reale Arena.
La Liga Prediction: Real Sociedad PK (-115)
Atletico Madrid vs Athletic Bilbao | Saturday April 27 | 3:00pm ET
Atletico Madrid -105 | Athletic Bilbao +290 | Draw +260
Big game up near the top of the table on Saturday as 5th-placed Athletic Bilbao takes on 4th-placed Atletico Madrid for those all-important Champions League spots for next season.
Atletico Madrid is currently three points ahead of Bilbao in the table, but Bilbao owns the better overall goal difference, so a win here would see them leapfrog Atleti in the table and give them a massive boost ahead of next season if they were able to hang onto that spot until the end of May.
That may be easier said than done however as Atletico Madrid has lost just once inside the Metropolitano all season, that coming against Barcelona last month, but Athletic Bilbao did show it’s nonetheless possible with a 1-0 win here back in February in the Copa del Rey.
In league meetings however, it’s been a much different story, with Bilbao not having won in this venue in well over 13 years, and Atletico winning six straight games here between 2015 to 2021 also.
In terms of this season specifically, however, Athletic Bilbao have amassed almost twice as many points at home this year than they have done on the road, with their win against Las Palmas two weeks ago being their only road win in the league going all the way back to early January.
That doesn’t bode well for them here against an Atletico Madrid side that despite that Barcelona loss last month, owns an impressive 6-1 record at home in the league since late December.
Take the home side to extend the gap here on Saturday with an outright victory in the capital.
La Liga Prediction: Atletico Madrid ML (-105)
Cadiz vs Mallorca | Sunday April 28 | 8:00am ET
Cadiz +160 | Mallorca +220 | Draw +190
A game with huge relegation implications takes place over at the Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla on Sunday that pits 16th-placed Mallorca against 18th-placed Cadiz in a big matchup for both teams.
If Mallorca can claim all three points away from home in this one then they’ll be almost assured of safety for next season, with a nine-point cushion and a superior goal difference likely being enough to steer them clear of the relegation zone.
If Cadiz gets the victory however, then it sets up a fascinating final few weeks of the season, with just three points potentially separating Cadiz, Celta Vigo (depending on what happens in their game against Deportivo Alaves at the weekend), and Mallorca near the bottom of the table.
Cadiz shouldn’t be underestimated in terms of pulling that feat off either as they’ve won two of their last three games at home, with their only loss across that time span coming against Barcelona.
Mallorca on the road meanwhile hasn’t been anywhere near as impressive, not having won a game in league action away from home going all the way back to September of last year, so it’s clear the Balearic Islanders don’t tend to travel well when visiting the Spanish mainland.
Cadiz has been solid in the league across recent weeks, especially at home, and we’ll back them to continue that good form ahead of this one also with a win and cover against Mallorca on Sunday.
