Stroemsgodset vs Viking Analysis

Second-place Viking travels to fourth-place Sroemsgodset in the southeastern city of Drammen as both teams look to close the gap on first-place Lillestroem.

After a red-hot start to their league campaign winning five of their opening six games, Viking has come off the boil over recent matches, winning just one of their last four overall.

Stroemsgodset, meanwhile, are unbeaten in their last five after a rocky start to the season and will look to capitalize on that solid form further with another win at home here on Saturday.

However, Stroemsgodset has a very poor recent head-to-head record against Viking, winning just one of their last eight against them overall.

Despite their recent issues in securing wins, Viking certainly hasn’t let up offensively in games, averaging 2.33 goals per game across their last six starts.

A lot of that success for Viking has come from striker Veton Berisha who has bagged six goals already this campaign, the league’s highest mark, and with Viking joint first on total goals scored this season along with ranking first by a wide margin on total xG as well, Viking to get on the scoresheet here on Saturday wouldn’t be a huge surprise at all.

Only one team has kept more clean sheets (conceded no goals) than Stroemsgodset have this season, and that’s league leaders Lillestroem.

Half of all Stroemsgodset’s games this season have been accompanied by a clean sheet and they’ve kept three of their last five opponents scoreless over recent games as well, including this same Viking side just two weeks ago over in Stavanger.

Only one of these two sides last five head-to-head’s has finished with more than two goals and 50% of all Viking’s games this year, despite all their firepower, has finished with fewer than three goals.
