Villarreal vs Juventus Analysis

Villarreal finished second in the group stage behind Manchester United but were patchy at home, winning just one of their three home games at this venue.

Juventus meanwhile topped their group, edging out a strong Chelsea side with a 1-0 win in Turin, and had the group’s best overall road record as well, winning two of three away from home.

Juventus and Villarreal have only faced each other once in this competition going all the way back to 2009, with the Spanish side coming out comfortable 4-1 winners in that one over in Italy, which coincidentally was the last time Villarreal made it this far in the competition.

Villarreal High on Confidence

Villarreal come off a confidence boosting 4-1 victory over Granada at the weekend and last year’s Europa League winners have been in solid form at home this season.

Villarreal have gone unbeaten over their last six at home in La Liga and are tied with the league’s third fewest losses at home this season as well.

Juventus’ Injury Crisis

Juventus is a team who have built from the back all year but enter Tuesday’s clash against Villarreal in something of an injury crisis.

Juventus won four of their five games in the group stage to nil as they remained extremely watertight at the back for the most part and have followed this up in Serie A as well, tied for the fewest goals allowed in the league since December 1st.

However, the Italians are missing some key cogs at the back heading into this game and that could well prove to be the difference maker here in the first leg of this matchup.

Villarreal vs Juventus Prediction

We have to look towards taking the home side Villarreal in this one on Tuesday.

The Spanish side are going off the draw no bet line, +0 handicap, at -138 and that’s the way we’re going to play this one on Tuesday afternoon.

Juventus enter this clash without experienced defensive line-men Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini, along with offensive playmakers Federico Chiesa and Paulo Dybala as well and those are some absolutely huge absences for the Italian side ahead of this one.

With so many first teamers absent here for Juventus, we just can’t see the Spanish side losing this one, especially at home, and getting them onside here at a decent price presents the value in this one.
