Wolfsburg vs RB Leipzig Betting Analysis

Wolfsburg came out of the World Cup break with a bang winning their first two matches by a combined 11-0 scoreline over Freiburg and Hertha Berlin.

However, that was quickly forgotten as they have now gone winless in their last four matches with three losses and a draw.

The Bundesliga had the longest break of any of the Big 5 Leagues, over two months, and as such, they have had to cram in games quickly upon their return.

Wolfsburg is not a deep team built to be able to handle that and this is the first time since their return that they have had a full week off to rest and gameplan for their opponent.

I think that will go a long way here as they try to chase down Frankfurt, Leipzig and Freiburg for a European qualification next season.

Bad Scheduling Spot For RB Leipzig

Leipzig were one of the hottest teams on the planet heading into the WC break as they hadn’t lost a match since September, and they came out of the break in the same form with three wins and a draw in their first four matches.

The draw came against Bayern Munich which is obviously a good result. However, they are now winless in their last two matches scoring just one total goal vs Koln and Hertha Berlin.

While this match is certainly important in the Bundesliga table, it’s a far cry from what they have coming up next week.

Leipzig face Manchester City on Wednesday in a huge Champions League clash that is vital for them to get a good result at home.

This couldn’t be any worse of a spot for Leipzig as I just don’t see them bringing their full attention to this matchup. In fact, if Leipzig was catching +0.25, I wouldn’t even take them that’s how far off I think the number is.

Leipzig have superior numbers to Wolfsburg this season, but they do drop significantly on the road as you can see below. On the flipside, Wolfsburg increase quite a bit at home to the point most are better than Leipzig.

Finally, let’s add in the H2H form between these sides. Leipzig do have three wins in the last seven H2H meetings with Wolfsburg, but none of those came at home.

In fact, Leipzig have just one win at Wolfsburg in the last six matches and that came in the DFB Pokal. They are winless in their each of the last five seasons at Wolfsburg.
