Wolves vs Manchester City Betting Preview

WagerTalk soccer handicapper Kevin Dolan offers his Wolves vs Manchester City betting preview for Wednesday, May 11 in the Premier League. Manchester City won the reverse fixture at the Etihad 1-0 back in December but needed a second half Raheem Sterling penalty in order to get over the line in that one.

Wolves vs Manchester City Analysis

Manchester City travels to the Molineux on Wednesday night knowing that another victory here in midweek inches them closer to landing yet another Premier League title.

However, they face a Wolves side in this one who have been somewhat of a bogey team for Pep Guardiola over recent seasons, with his side winning just once over his last three trips to the West Midlands club.

Wolves captain Conor Coady was stellar in defense in that first meeting in December, where a Wolves squad that was down to ten men arguably deserved a share of the spoils in that fixture.

City Lighting Up The Goal Counter

From having a somewhat nervous goal difference deficit against Liverpool just a few weeks ago, Manchester City has since surged in front of their Premier League title rivals, both in terms of points and goals. City has bagged a scorching 4.25 goals per game across their last four Premier League starts.

On top of that, the ‘Cityzens’ are breaking records right across the board now also, with City eclipsing their previously held 15-game road unbeaten streak with unbeaten game No. 16 against Leeds two weeks ago for a new club record.

Wolves Winding Down The Season

After a dramatic late comeback against Chelsea over the weekend which saw captain Conor Coady grab a 96th minute equalizer for the away side, Wolves continue to be a hard out for anybody in the league when they’re on their game.

Saying that however, Wolves have looked distinctly average over recent weeks, alternating wins and losses at home in the Premier League and have won just one of their last six games in all, a run that’s going to have to change drastically if they’re expected to challenge City in this one.

Wolves vs Manchester City Prediction

As much of a problem as this Wolves side has been for Manchester City over recent seasons, with the way both teams are playing right now, we simply have to give City the decided edge in this one.

Despite their impressive result against Chelsea at the weekend, Wolves have looked off the boil for quite some time now, generating the third-lowest xPTS in the league since March 1 while Manchester City are simply dominating in the league right now.

With the league title still in play and absolutely no room for slip-ups allowed for City here, Manchester City should simply have too much for Wolves in this one and we like them on the -1.5 handicap line to win and cover on the road on Wednesday night against Wolves in the Premier League.
