World Cup Group H Predictions, First & Second Place Betting Picks Free!
WagerTalk’s World Cup Group H Predictions focus on which two teams will advance from this tricky and even group.
World Cup Group H sees Euro 2016 winners Portugal go up against Uruguay, South Korea, and Ghana, with the Portuguese entering as the books’ smallest group favorite in this World Cup at only -150 to finish at the top.
That may be due in part to Portugal’s disappointing qualifying run which saw them pushed through the playoff route by Serbia, but the Portuguese find themselves involved in a group where every other team also failed to finish top of their respective continents as well, so it makes for an interesting group overall.
Uruguay comes in as the next choice to claim top spot at +200, while South Korea and Ghana both enter at +1000 to finish top in what should be a competitive group.

World Cup Group H Predictions – Portugal World Cup Preview :
With four World Cups played already under his belt in what has been an absolutely outstanding career, 37-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo will look for one last dance in 2022, and in the process, become the first-ever player to score in five consecutive World Cup Finals when he kits out for Portugal later this year.
With an unbelievable roster of talent besides Ronaldo, including players such as Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes, Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva, Ruben Dias, and Joao Cancelo, and Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix among a host of other world-class talent to choose from, Portugal definitely have the players necessary to make a deep run in this competition.
While they stumbled through qualification, drawing against Ireland and losing to Serbia over their final two games to finish up in the runners-up spot, expect the Portuguese to show up here come November and become one of the front-runners in the tournament.
World Cup Group H Predictions – Uruguay World Cup Preview :
With both of their old guard Luis Suarez and Edison Cavani now over the age of 35, Uruguay will be looking to their younger players such as Real Madrid’s Federico Valverde and Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez to deliver in this competition.
The Uruguayans looked incredibly shaky in qualifying, especially early, winning just four of their opening 14 matches in CONMEBOL for a while it looked like this squad would potentially be missing out on this year’s finals.
However, Diego Alonso’s team managed to rally late over their final few matches, winning each of their last four games of qualifying to finish in third position overall and gain an automatic qualification spot for this year’s finals.
World Cup Group H Predictions – South Korea World Cup Preview:
Heung-min Son carries the hopes of a nation on his back heading into this year’s tournament as the Tottenham star guided Korea through qualifying with the group’s highest overall goal-to-team contribution rate at 31-percent.
His influence will once again be huge in terms of how far Korea can go in this tournament, but their captain and national hero is also joined by other solid international-level players such as Napoli’s Min-jae Kim and Wolves’ Hee-chan Hwang who can showcase their own talents on the world stage come November.
While South Korea does not have the deepest roster in the group, they’re an incredibly tight unit overall and have shown, as they did in the 2018 World Cup with their defeat over Germany, that they shouldn’t be underestimated in these types of tournaments. They’ll no doubt look to prove that once again in 2022.
World Cup Group H Predictions – Ghana World Cup Preview :
No doubt many Ghana fans will relish the chance of securing revenge against their old foes Uruguay after being dumped at the quarterfinal stage in heartbreaking fashion 12 years ago in South Africa.
Ghana, being the only African nation left at that stage of the tournament, carried an entire continent on their shoulders heading into that quarterfinal matchup against Uruguay, and with the game deadlocked near the end of extra time, a header from a melee in the box through Ghana’s Dominic Adiyiah was heading goal-bound before Luis Suarez intervened with a blatant handball which saved the day for Uruguay.
Suarez was summarily sent off but Asamoah Gyan missed the resulting penalty and Ghana eventually went on to lose on penalties themselves and endured all the ensuing heartbreak that came with it.
With Ghana on course to become Africa’s first-ever semifinalists in a World Cup in that competition, but for Luis Suarez’s handball, the Uruguayan forward has been labeled as “The man who enraged an entire continent”, so it’ll be interesting to see if Ghana come looking for revenge this time around.
World Cup Group H Predictions
Overall, provided there are no major shocks in this group, Portugal should have the talent and roster to finish top of the group as they boast some of the world’s best players alongside a player in Ronaldo who is seeking history in this tournament.
Second spot is a lot more interesting however and Uruguay, while more talented than the other two teams in the group overall, has shown to be rather inconsistent under boss Diego Alonso over recent games, and that could play into both South Korea’s and Ghana’s hands ahead of this tournament.
Ghana does have some world-class operators at their disposal in the form of Arsenal’s Thomas Partey and Athletic Bilbao’s Inaki Williams, and will no doubt relish their chance to gain some revenge against the team that sent them crashing out of the 2010 World Cup in such heartbreaking fashion in Uruguay.
South Korea, while light roster wise outside of Heung-min Son, does play as a solid unit overall and could provide the major shock of this group in qualifying next to Portugal come December.
World Cup Group H Predictions – The Ultimate Betting Pick
Overall, we’re going to go with Portugal/South Korea to finish first and second respectively as the best value in this group overall at +700 as the Koreans definitely have the ability to surprise in this group.
