Sorry I'm locking this in so late but some of these teams refuse to announce starting pitchers until a couple of hours before the game and there was question marks on both sides here.  

The more important of the two is JT Ginn, the A's will give the 25 year old his fifth big league start and I think he finally settles into the role here.

Ginn was outstanding in his season debut out of the bullpen but he's been hit or miss as a starter all season.  Ginn had the occasional blowup at both AA and AAA which has watered down his season long numbers but he's got plus stuff and I think it plays here.  Ginn has 11 strikeouts in 11 innings as a starter and with rosters expanded the A's have options if they don't want to push Ginn a second time through the order.  It might be a “bullpen” day of sorts for the A's and I think they beat the Tigers at their own game here.

The Tigers have been filling their rotation with a bullpen game for months now and it looks like that's the move today with Beau Brieske getting the ball first.  He's irrelevant, he won't be in the game long but I'm interested in who comes next which is likely Ty Madden who has been a fade for me.  Madden has been fine in two bulk outings but this was a guy that I was never impressed with at AAA and I could see the home run hitters on the A's having a day against a AAA caliber pitcher here.  We know the A's don't string many hits together but they hit the long ball at a Top 5 rate and I could definitely see a Lawrence Butler or Brent Rooker having a huge game here.

The A's used Osvaldo Bido in relief yesterday which means Grant Holman and Mason Miller are both available at the back end here.  Just a great all around set up for the A's and a game I think they win at the Coliseum this afternoon.
