(273) Cleveland Browns at (274) Jacksonville Jaguars
Brought this one up on Spaces yesterday. I'll bite. Full analysis to follow.
I will have analysis added for this one tomorrow morning. I'm also doing an NFL Spaces on X at 7:15AM ET.
Unfortunately it looks like the Browns might still have offensive linemen out but I've still got my fingers crossed that Jack Conklin will give it a go here. Either way, I think the Browns have a much different game plan than the one that didn't work against the Cowboys that focuses on Deshaun Watson getting rid of the ball quickly and getting it to skill guys that can run at the Jaguars suspect secondary.
Something that became apparent to me on Thursday night was the Dolphins rushing attack got a lot worse (did nothing against the Jaguars in Week 1) so, while the Jaguars might be a decent run defense, I'm not willing to give it to them based on that performance alone. I also think we see a far better effort from the Browns defense which is still the hallmark of this Browns team.
Cleveland had the top rushing defense in the NFL last season and they also should be able to get home on pass rush against this Jaguars offensive line. I stil think there's quite a few paths to victory for Cleveland, most notably a much stronger defensive effort, and I think we are getting some nice line value catching a field goal here.
Play on Browns +3 (-110) for 4% (or 4 units)
