San Diego State put up 45 points in their opener against Texas A&M-Commerce, but that team won 2 games last year, and one of them was a forfeit…insane…and they’re 0-2 this year so I don’t take much away from that game where they rushed for 254 yards, and threw for 214. In their second game, they faced Oregon State…a legit team, and they got shutout while rushing for 2.9 yards per carry and they only completed 11 passes for 107 yards. Oregon State rushed the ball 51 times for 237 yards, and they held the ball for over 41 minutes, and it’s tough to score points when you’re on the field 18 minutes.
Cal is 2-0 to start the season, and they’ve held both UC Davis and Auburn under 14 points, and they easily won the time of possession against Auburn, which doesn’t bode well for San Diego State. Cal’s defense has been solid allowing only 3.7 yards per carry, and they had 4 interceptions last week. I don’t see San Diego State getting 2 touchdowns, let alone adding a field goal to that or going for 2 and getting it. I see Cal holding the ball for most of the game like Oregon State did to SDSU last week.
