3% Northern Illinois (3:30 ET): Just a great spot to fade Notre Dame, IMO, as the Fighting Irish will be in total letdown mode following the big win in College Station last Saturday night. For the record, favorites of 21 or more coming off a win over a ranked opponent have hit just 43% the last 20 seasons. Tough to get up for a MAC opponent the following week. So grab the points. 

For what it's worth, Northern Illinois has covered five straight road openers including outright upsets over Georgia Tech and Boston College. Now the Huskies obviously aren't winning this game outright, but staying within four touchdowns is all we need. It may have come against a FCS opponent (Western Illinois) last week, but the Northern Illinois' offense did put up 54 points and 706 yards. Shouldn't even need one-third of that to cover this generous number

ND knows all they need to do is win every week, against what is probably the softest remaining schedule for any CFP contender. So I don't see Marcus Freeman being determined to win this by 30 points. Also, the Irish have a losing ATS record in South Bend the last two seasons. With a total this low, and a point spread this high, all we should need is a couple scores from the road dog. 3% Northern Illinois (Play +28 or better)
