4% Virginia Tech Hokies (-13.5) over Vanderbilt — 

If you think back to the end of last season, during the L4W of the season, this Virginia Tech team EXPLODED on the offensive side of the ball, averaging 43 PPG! It wouldn’t come as a surprise if we see a similar performance roll into the opening game of this season, seeing as VT returns ALL 11 STARTERS on the offensive side of the ball! They are one of the most experienced team in the nation and the offense is looking to come back and put up the kind of numbers they did at the end of LY all season long in 2024. 

On the defensive side of the ball VT still returns 8 starters and adds 2 big transfers on the DL. Vanderbilt was forced to recruit a plethora of players in the transfer portal to replace the pieces they lost in the offseason, including 3 of their top 4 tacklers! 

As for the Commodores offensive unit, they are forced to replace 3 of their top 4 rushers, all 3 of their leading receivers and their QB experience. The WR position looks especially thin and the transfers will take some time to adjust. There is a very minimal adjustment period for the Hokies, plus they were 2-0 LY ATS as a F vs. NCONF opponents. 

As for Vanderbilt, they are just 3-9 ATS vs. NCONF opponents since Lea took over as HC, including 4-0 LY. They are just 2-6 ATS as a DD D vs. NCONF opponents in the L8 and just 2-6 ATS in the L8 season openers @ H!
