Last season these two teams allowed a combined 62 OPPG, resulting in a 16-8 OU record. This season they combine for 6 defensive starters returning (2 for Pitt, 4 for Kent St.) and both rank in the bottom ⅓ in the NCAA when it comes to experience. 

Kent State allowed nearly 35 OPPG LY against one of the easiest schedules in all of the FBS and lost 6 of their top 8 tacklers. One thing that does benefit in the over though, a lot of the returning experience on this Golden Flashes team is on the offensive side of the ball. There is a lack of experience on defense, but the offense returns their leading rusher and their top 2 WRs. 

When it comes to Pitt’s offense the biggest benefit is the tempo that this offense looks like it will be moving with new OC Kade Bell. Pitt made some moves in the portal and their defense will need time to click. 

Kent St. is 6-3-1 OU in their L9 season openers on the road and I expect both offenses to find holes in the opposing inexperienced defenses.
