The Mets may have lost yesterday, but they’ve still won 9 of 10 as they prepare for a series north of the border against a Toronto team that will not be participating in this year’s postseason. Paul Blackburn is scheduled to come off the 15-day IL and get the start for the opener. He’s allowed 1 earned or fewer in 3 of his past 5 starts with the others being forgettable outings. He’ll no doubt be on a short leash with the way the standings sit. Atlanta beat this Toronto team in 11 innings yesterday, so both the Mets and Braves are deadlocked for the final wild card spot in the NL. Chris Bassitt has poor metrics and gave up 10 hits the last time he took the mound. Traveling from Atlanta to Toronto after an extra innings loss is a long way to go when you have nothing to play for. New York gets right back on track and takes game 1 of this series. Take the Mets.
