The Braves’ bats are finally starting to click as the realization kicks in that they have to win now. Atlanta sits 2 games behind the Mets for the final wild card spot, but did pick up a 7-1 win over Cincy yesterday. Chris Sale takes the mound for the rubber match and his metrics are as good as anyone in baseball. Sale ranks in the 100th percentile in pitching run value and the top 10th percentile in almost every major category. He enters with a wOBA of .257 and a strikeout rate 10% higher than the league average. Sale has allowed a total of just 1 run in his last 3 starts combined. We have a very small sample size on Julian Aguiar, but he generally doesn’t throw deep into games. That means there will be plenty of opportunities against guys from the pen for these Braves batters to tee off on. Considering who is on the mound and what’s at stake, expect a strong outing from Atlanta as they continue to make their playoff push. Take the Braves RL.
