Perfect spot for the public to overreact to last week’s scores. Texas Tech was a 30-point favorite over Abilene Christian. They barely escaped with a 52–51 overtime win. It must be noted that this was a little brother versus big brother game, as Texas Tech clearly looked past them, while that was a monster game for Abilene Christian playing against their in-state big brother. Then you look at Washington State, who was a 25-point favorite, winning 70–30. The knee-jerk reaction this week is to grab Washington State in a pick-the-winner situation, but if we dig deeper, we see that Washington State has a monster game next week as they are playing their rival Washington, who bolted from the PAC-12 and left them behind. That is always a huge rivalry game but will have added meaning this year. Washington State gets caught looking ahead, while Texas Tech got their wake-up call last week. TEXAS TECH 35-31.
