Analysis

The Cardinals and Pirates continue their 4-game series in STL. This play is all about the pitching matchup. I don't love that the Cardinals have won the first two games and then playing on them in the third, but fading Jake Woodford is the reason. He has an 8.01 ERA and 1.62 WHIP on the season. Now, he's only made two road starts and they were decent, but the Pirates have never won a game his pitched in this season. Plus, they only average 2.33 runs of support per start. Woodford has only made it through 5 innnings in one start this season. Sonny Gray goes for the Cardinals. While his run support isn't much better at 3.89, I will have to trust the the Cardinals can get an early lead here. The risk is that the first two games were very low scoring and the bats could break out for both teams. Gray has to do his job and the Cardinals bats should do enough here to get this home.
