Serbia vs Spain

Serbia have revamped their squad that fumbled greatly in the recent EUROs, they are MUCH weaker than the EUROs, as star strikers Mitrovic and Dusan Vlahovic have been dropped, as well as Sergej Milinkovic Savic and Tadic among others. And even though all of these players stank in the EUROs, it’s still a great stepdown. Now the starting striker will most likely be Luka Jovic, who hasn’t been good in quite a few years (and is listed as questionable), and the coach also called up 5 uncapped players.

On the other hand we have Spain, who won the EUROs, won the Olympic Games, and they are coming into this tournament looking to shine once again, after winning the previous edition. They also have some absent players, as Morata, Merino and Simon are all injured, Rodri is suspended, but they do have a big chunk of the roster that just won the EUROs, with Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams in the two flanks, Oyarzabal up front, Dani Olmo at the 10 position, Fabian Ruiz in the midfield (who made us a TON of money with his shot props in the EUROs, along with Olmo), and Cucurella, Laporte, Le Normand and Carvajal in the backline, with Raya in the goalkeeper position. A pretty competitive squad that has nothing to fear against Serbia’s B squad.

Even the coach situation is lop-sided, with Serbia’s Stojkovic failing to win 6 competitive matches in big tournaments, while Spain’s de la Fuente has been highly successful with all of the Spanish national teams he’s coached over the years.

This match is played on Serbian soil, which is a totally different situation than the neutral grounds of the EUROs. Matches in Serbia are never easy but the gap in quality is massive, both in staff and roster, and I expect Spain to outplay the Serbians here.
