2%: Los Angeles @ Indiana

Los Angeles erratic scoring production bit them again Sunday in their 80-62 home loss vs. Atlanta. Tonight’s opponent completely different breed than methodical, half court oriented, defensive minded Dream. This matchup comps more with LA’s recent battle at high octane, porous defense Dallas. That contest produced a 113-110 final where the 223 total points became the most scored in regulation this season. Indiana enters off back-back 100 point performances and their high efficiency (now #2 in league FG% at 45.2%), open court style is better suited for Sparks offense. Return of PG Aari McDonald last game is helpful to their scoring as well and she should see a minutes bump here. Los Angeles has come out of the Olympic break as poor defensively as they were pre-break. In their 8 games LA has allowed over 100 points twice, 87 or more 5 times and 80+ in seven. Indiana has picked apart every defense they’ve seen scoring 80+ in 19 of their L22G and they’re averaging 90.7 ppg over their L10. In summary you have the #4 (Fever) & #5 (Sparks) pace teams in the league and you have two of the three worst defensive rating teams. Price has already been driven up from 170.5 to 173 and Indiana’s recent track record vs. bottom half defensive teams shows a strong tendency to climb beyond that number. The final scores in their L6G vs bottom tier defensive teams have all resulted in 173 points or higher and 5 of those 6 have posted 181 or more. Nice fundamental fit here that likely sends the game total up toward the 175+ vicinity.
