After what transpired in their opener there’s no reason to think Jacksonville State’s defense is going to slow down the Louisville offense. Cardinals HC Jeff Brohm has in veteran transfer QB Tyler Shough what he didn’t have last year in starter Jack Plummer. Shough opened his Louisville career with an efficient 18/24/232/4 TD/0 int performance against outclassed FCS Austin Peay squad. Brohm’s balanced, high octane philosophy didn’t have all the parts to run on all cylinders but this year’s team gave evidence they do with their 9.2 ypp showing last week. Jacksonville State gave up 8 scores on 12 possessions to preseason question mark Coastal Carolina’s offense whichpiled up 552 total yards in the process. JSU in their true “extreme tempo” “home run potential on any play” did exit the game contributing 38 & 92 yard TD’s which is a nice element to have when playing an “over”. Suitable number of possessions & scoring opportunities to climb this type of number are likely to be available as are the quick strike points. Gamecocks had backing of astute bettors last week but that crowd has abandoned them here. They may be completely untrustworthy defensively vs. this caliber of opponent but they’re also probably still good enough to score 20. Figure that’s enough to cash this one.
