Old Dominion averaged 18.9 seconds per snap in their game vs. South Carolina while East Carolina ran a play every 19.1. Drawback for each last week was turnovers…ODU had 4 while ECU had 6 and still managed to score 5 offensive touchdowns. Strength of opposition certainly goes to the Monarchs who step down in class here and should roll on offense. Other side has strong passing attack spearheaded by highly touted & well traveled jr. QB Jake Garcia (Miami-Fla & Missouri). Last week ECU picked up 358 yards through the air in game vs. Norfolk State where Garcia & his receiving corps gained some on field familiarity. That initial developing of rapport should increase here and ODU side was faced a minimal test through the air vs. run heavy Gamecocks whose play calling was a severely lopsided 70.9% rush / 29.1% pass (56/23). Defensive line & secondary depth likely tested here by ECU tempo and host will retaliate with their rapid style attack.
