The Kaleb DeBoer era immediately showed things are going to be a bit different as Alabama built a 42-0 halftime lead and unlike prior editions they continued scoring. 3 TD drives on their first 4 2H possessions led to 21 points and a sel mad “over” with their 63-0 home win against Western Kentucky. Another home game here against another “extreme tempo” offense and a total now at 64 as compared to last week’s 59.5. Last season’s weather interrupted contest led to sleepwalk 17-3 ‘Bama win but offenses likely to get untracked in this one. Western Kentucky didn’t even have a hint of a ground attack to help balance their arsenal and it got them shut out. South Florida does run the football and they have 10 starters back from LY team which averaged 183 rypg. QB Byrum Brown is a component of the Bulls running game which adds a dimension Alabama did not have to contend with last week. Crimson Tide defense obviously in the nation’s upper echelon but South Florida has the speed and game breaking ability to dent them a bit here. What the visitor doesn’t have is a defensive unit in the same category as Alabama’s offense and that’s problematic. Helpful though where points are concerned and ‘Tide likely headed toward the 48+ area again. Underdog is good enough to contribute the necessary 17-20.
